Rewards?
So, I was reading a weight loss book and it said that if you can set a goal and keep it, you should reward yourself with little things at the end of the week. I don't dare reward myself with food (that's what got me in this mess to begin with) and I refuse to buy anymore clothes until I see MAJOR weight loss, what do you think a good "reward" would be?

Me either, Bert.
For short term goals, I promise myself rewards like-- "being able to use the seatbelt."
Long term goals? "Gratuitous sex" ranks up there.

I thought about the sex thing, but I wasn't going to say that....LOL....Bert you could even use that I'm sure.
Seriously though, a babysitter, a girl night's out, there all kinds of rewards, I have even used the food one. Not this time yet, but when I lost down to 135 (a realllllllly long time ago before pregnancy with 15 y/o daughter) when I got paid every other week I would have a 3Musketeers, a piece of Strawberry shortcake, or something just to reward myself for staying diligent......it kept the in b/t cravings down to a minimum. Just sacrifice something else so you have the calories to splurge.
i like massages and pedicures. these work for men as well! also CDs or DVDs or theatre/concert tickets. once i even treated myself to a nice in a really nice, classy hotel in town (i was living at a boarding school at the time, so not sleeping in a twin bed was great!)
you also have to think about things that would motivate you. this sounds REALLY retarded but i told myself when i got to 200, i would finally call the laser hair removal people. it was something i'd wanted to do for a long time but i was embarassed and....i don't know. it was just when i got to 200, i knew i would do it. maybe it was the idea of making a commitment to something?
definitely a good idea to break the food-as-reward cycle. we are so used to doing it and for people who tend to have weight issues, it just cannot be like that.

I reward myself after every 25 lbs down, so they're not happening every week, lol.
