I'm back!
Hi all,
It was a wild and wooly month here for me.
Back at the beginning of the month, I'd started off with that severe hypoglycemic episode where I'd almost passed out. A number of factors contributed to it, and I'm going to be much more careful about what and when I eat prior to intense exercise. The day after it, I spiked a fever and my slightly sore throat (I'm a mouth breather, so I usually have a mild sore throat) turned into something on fire which turned out to be strep. I had strep multiple times a year when I was young, but it's been several years since I'd come down with it, so I really wasn't expecting it. Two days into the antibiotic for that, I started having frequent urination with burning. So then I got to be treated for the first time ever in my life for a UTI.
My bloodwork looked pretty normal although I was slightly anemic, but that's fairly normal for me (I bleed like a stuck pig at that tom). My health seems to be okay now.
Just as I was resolving these health "speed bumps," we had multiple days of tornadic storms. The big one that hit Greensburg was off a bit to our west, but we had a number of others which passed much closer (we lost electricity a bunch of times and occasionally the satellite tv as well). The rain continued for about two weeks, and then one of the nights, the saturated ground got really plastered (some people had 10" in as little as 2 hours), so then we had the worst flooding I've seen here since I moved from CA in 1987. We live next to the Arkansas River which kept rising higher and flowing faster (they said it was running 80x faster than normal****il it started breaking through and over levees all over the place. Our county became a disaster area, and the north-south blacktop road to our west and the north-south blacktop road to our east which actually cross the river were both washed out. That cut my town on from its 2 main routes to Hutchinson for days. (We could still get to Wichita by taking Hwy 96, so Mark's work wasn't affected.) So we had about a week of very complicated routes to get places.
Combine these things with some issues involving our home remodeling project and the kids, and I pretty much had an entire month where diet and exercise haven't really been something I've concerned myself with. So my weight's virtually been static (no pain no gain!...or loss in this case LOL), and I did lose a bunch of muscle tone.
No binges, but I ate a lot of things I wouldn't be eating on my diet (hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, etc...). I just got back on track Sunday by treadmilling again for the first time in weeks and continued to work my plan yesterday. I'm trying to get another exercise session in this morning before the heating and air guy shows up to see about replacing our furnace and air conditioner. I only need to lose 1 pound to join the Century Club, so that's a pretty big motivator. Anyway, I'm starting off slow as I get back into the swing of things, so I'm only shooting for being 144 by next Monday which should give me plenty of time. I feel so soft and squishy after losing much of my muscle; I want to get back to feeling leaner and more toned!
Glad to be back, and I'll try to start participating more today or tomorrow.
