Hey Andrea, I feel the same way about cardio.  I keep pumping up resistence, but it just doesn't seem to be as challenging.  I was talking to my personal trainer about this and she said to keep doing what I feel is a great workout, whether it is on the elliptical, treadmill, bike, stairclimber (my new cardio addition), etc. BUT every so often (2-3 minutes for me) do a minute of full out, fast as you can go  cardio. She said this will help me to get my heart rate & metabolism up and hopefully move the scale as well.  I just have to keep challenging myself.   I know you were doing the couch to 5k as well before your accident.  Did you like it?  I am on week four and am really liking it.  I love the way it progresses and takes you a step further every week.  I doubled up weeks 3 and 4 and did them each 2 weeks because I didn't feel I was ready to move on-which is what I liked about this program.

Maybe ask your personal trainer to give you a routine that she thinks would work best in regards to switching up your cardio weekly too. You've come such a long way.  Hopefully this feeling will go soon.

I guess it's not the exercise predicament you described that concerns me as much as the Food comment.  Once you get to your goal weight, it just doesn't seem fair that you have to keep reducing your food intake.  I had always thought, (erroneously so it would appear) that the number of calories you were eating when you reached your goal weight would be the number of calories you would be able to eat to maintain.  But I guess if your body is getting more efficient you are not burning as many calories and it's a calories in vs calories out deal.  Quite honestly this is news to me and not very good news I might add.

oh yeah - that does suck. but makes sense if you think about it. it takes a lot more calories and muscle to carry around a 300 lb body than to carry around a 150 lb body. that's why if you ever do weigh****chers or whatever, the less you weigh, the fewer "points" you are allotted. i don't know - unfortunately its a VERY inexact science. you have to figure out how your body works - mine is completely unforgiving. as much as it sucks, being smaller and healthier is still worth it. its just more work (for me at least).

Yeah, I guess it does make sense.  And OK, I guess I won't throw in the towel and give up.  I just have a more realistic picture of what I'm up against.  Thanks, (I think)
