Hi Shari, I try to stick to 1300-1400 calories a day.  At the beginning of my program I was at barely 1000 calories a day.  I know that doesn't sound horribly healthy but I did what worked for me at the time. My daily intake goes something like this: Breakfast 2 hardboiled eggs 1 pkg weight control oatmeal 2 tablespoons flax seed (ground) cup of coffee with sugar free creamer Lunch 4 ounces tuna w/2 tablespoons of light mayo low carb wrap (80 calorie wrap) 2 slices of tomato 1 cup of strawberries Dinner Chicken breast/white pork/turkey (ground or regular)/fish vegetables occassionally 1/2 of a sweet potato Snack sugar free chocolate pudding w/light whipped cream sugar free fudge pop I think I eat a decent amount of food, and it usually easily adds up to 1300 calories.  I also drink 125 ounces of water per day and take a multi-vitamin, 600 mg calcium, 1000 mg vitamin C, L-lysine and  B-12. I have lost 140 pounds since July of 2005, I lost it by July of 2006 but have maintained within a 15 pound range (up sadly, LOL) since then. Hope this helps somewhat.

I was always under the impression that to lose weight you basically had to starve yourself.....probably the reason I never stuck with it very long.  What I have found since I've been trying to eat a balanced diet is that if you get all the recommended daily amounts of each food group, that's quite a bit of food.  occasionally I have not been able to eat all the fruit or dairy that I should eat in a day.  Of course at first I was guesstimating portion sizes so I overdid some veggies or meats, but the weight still came off. So when I see folks at work eating tiny amounts for breakfast and lunch I always wonder why.  Sooooo........I asked a lady the other day, she said oh I do really good here at work but when I get home I graze on chips and cookies.  Soooooo really if she ate BALANCED, she wouldn't be so hungry by the time she gets home that she eats continously until supper is done.  It's more about food choices that the amount imo.

Yeah, I know about ME, no matter how much I eat during the day, I STILL want to eat what I deem a decent meal at night. Once in a while, I can/will get by on a grilled meat + salad, but not typically.

I'd rather be extra cautious all day long, truly my appetite does not pick up til late afternoon anyway!

I actually have been seeing a therapist who is *very* slender but was once obese-- 25 years ago! He felt as you and I do--- you don't want to "waste" calories on fuel on the go , you wanna have a savory meal when you are home and relaxed. He was of the opinion that it's normal to feel that way, which is good to know!

I totally agree with you. I am great during the day and not very hungry.  But once I get home, i just want to sit down and eat a bigger meal and really enjoy it.  So, I only use a  few ww points during the day and use more of them for my evening meal when I know I can really enjoy them and want them.   Typically, my breakfast is a cup of coffee, banana and a vitamuffin (vitamuffins are so good and only one point).  Lunch is salad; or soup; or this great organic black bean dip and I use cucumbers to scoop it up -only one point, and so filling.  Snack is usually a protein/granola bar; or yogurt with a cup of blueberries or strawberries. I'm allowed 29 points.  Usually I have between 15 and 20 points left for dinner and a sweet.  Sometimes I use them all, most of the time I have a few left over.   I also drink 3-5 liters of water a day and exercise 2-3 hours a day 5-6 days a week.   But I've only been losing a pound a week-not complaining-just wondering if I would lose more if I ate all of my points everyday.  I just don't want to eat if I'm not hungry, just to eat my points.  I also think it's different for me because I have already lost so much weight.  My body reacts differently?  The whole first year I was losing weight it just melted off.  But then it got to a point where I really had to work hard for every pound.  I wi**** wasn't such a guessing game.  Or do we just make it harder then it really is.  Anyway, we'll see how this continues to work out.
