Hi all, I thought I would start posting my losses or heaven forbid, gains, when I weigh in with ww each week now to help hold me a little more accountable.  You guys are all so supportive.  So I weighed in today.  My second week at ww and I lost 1lb.  I am content with that.  I would have loved it to be a little more, but a loss is a loss.  Two weeks in, 12.4lbs down. Way to go Katy!!! I remember the last time I went to WW.  I have only done them a few times, not too successful but I still believe they are the best program ever.  I went for my weigh in the first week and lost 8 pounds.  I was so happy.  I went back the next week and GAINED 4 pounds.  I was devastated.  The lady behind the counter said, "oh, had a bad week huh?"  Well, if it weren't for my son holding me back I would have heaved my 350 pound self over the counter and crushed her.  I was mostly there for my son who needed to lose weight.  For me at that point in my life I was just trying not to get any bigger!!!  Next week I went back and lost 8 pounds.  Since starting my own journey I have learned a heck of a lot more about the way our bodies work, and the scale doesn't hold nearly the same power that it did in the past. Good for you, keep up the good work!!!!

That made me laugh Donna.   The only difference was that at my meeting the weigh in lady is so happy when people lose weight and will announce it to the "loser"..."you've lost 2.4lbs"  or " good job, down .2"  but when someone would gain she would get all quiet and just not look at you.  So everyone knew you didn't do very well. That happened to me two weeks in a row the last time I tried ww and I never went back.  Silence can be deadly.  You're right though, at this point, I feel like as long as I am trying my best, if the scale moves up it just means I need to be a little more diligent and not take it so a personally.  Have a great Sunday! This is why I like tops!  We weigh in private.  You get to jingle a bell for a loss if you want. :)  We also do a roll-call where you announce your name and whether you gained or lost for that week.  The losses get applauded and cheered and the gains get something like "Awww, We care!!". It's great because even though you're hating yourself for gaining weight you don't feel ridiculed by everyone else. The annoucement of the gain helps you stay accountable as well, not to mention all of the contests. :)  Fun stuff!

Good morning Chris! I think you're right about tops ideas of weighing in private.  That would be nice if WW did it that way too.  Actually, I looked into tops and was going to join.  My friend, who I am going to ww with wanted to go to ww because she really likes this leader---she's been following her for years.  Which just her saying "for years", made me laugh.  Because like we can all relate, she's lost and gained, lost and gained  wieght.  Anyway, I think Neecee is right, sometimes we give the scale too much credit.  If I gain a pound or two now, I'm not happy, but, I'm also not devastated anymore.  I've learned to appreciate those NSV just as much if not more.   Although I really do wish ww would have some of those great contests you talk about at tops.  I can be a little competitive too.  Sounds like soooo much fun and a great, warm, welcoming environmnet---not to mention, I know you kick ass every week and win those weigh in contests!!! Have a great day, Katy

WW weekly weigh ins are a bit TOO responsive for most of us. It is a mental trip, and exercise, really, to not let that *good* number or ~~bad~~ number affect your mood the rest of the day. It's just information not a emotional drama - we are too quick to add in all that drama. Funny thing is, we don't "have to" react - we can choose to just know it and be done. I work at just observing the scale reading, not judging it, even when it's good. When there is a loss, for me, there can be a sense of oh, i can have that_____ or skip a day of exercise. when there is a gain, well you know how to make that into a positive...or a negative. Up or down, we fat people can screw it up somehow, right?? LOL I work at no matter what the reading, i need to make the best use of that information by either continuing with what I am doing or tweaking it.  So, come in and and whine or gloat, we'll do our best to give you that reality check you're looking for!!!!!

That is a great loss -- and a great attitude!  A couple times this year I let the WI poison my day (case in point: last Sunday.  Between a week of walking and TOM I was up 1.8 and I was pizzed!).  I am trying not to do that anymore and realizing the value of what my leader says:  "Your body doesn't know what you want it to weigh on Sunday morning." Keep up the great work!

Speaking of gains.  I had 1 week where I gained at Tops.  All that did was **** me the %*(# off and motivated me to come back in there and whip ass at the next WI.  heheh, don't tell me I failed! I do not fail, I'm only temporarily set back! :)  So I guess the whole scale thing doesn't really hold water mentally for me. At least not with the gains, I kinda get more upset with plateaus or if I only lost .5 instead of the 6 lbs I felt like I lost! heheh!
