Something funny (but really sad)
Amen Bert and Chris - the food is not going to walk away from YOU! Helllllooooo? Same with being an alcoholic - booze is everywhere, it is up to us how we want to spend out time - present or checked out.
Until we delete free enterprise, this is the way it is. So happens, i am a true communist at heart, but that is another discussion.
I am really hating (and fearing) the penchant for laws in this land of ours. Pretty soon, if it's not too late already, you won't be able to fart without Big Bro knowing how long it was, how it smelled, etc.
Everybody - we hold the key to unlock this addiction or compulsion, whatever you want to call it. Crying into our chocolate shake is not going to fix this.

I have to agree with Neecee. The urge to eat fast food will subside. I am a die hard on Fast food, that was my problem. I love the greasy goodness. Ha. But now I don't even think about it anymore. After a couple of weeks or so....it took me a month to actually get a hold on everything, everything will be a habit with good food.
It took me some years, but nonetheless, i always knew how crappy it made me feel. Also, Christa made some really big changes - far more than I did - a lot sooner in her journey.
Part of my trouble (and many people's) was no money to buy good food. Our cabinets were full of hot dogs, mac and cheese, potatoes, eggs. We had no car, so fresh produce was out of the question. We had a working freezer about half the time in a slum I used to live in.
It's a journey, but it does come when a person learns to listen to the body that cries out to be fed right.
I hear you. I am to the point where fast food makes me feel like crap, but my mouth still likes it. It's the only part of my body that does, so I still have to fight it. Part of my trouble was Dad being a hog farmer and pork for us was really cheap, so we had it a lot, and a lot of it. We also had french fries with almost everthing at HOME, not just when we went to McD's. I'm surpised my parents have made it to 67 and 69 without more health problems than they have.
I happened across a few of those commercials myself. It's rare I catch a commercial with having a DVR but I've seen the signs at the restaurants themselves. It actually made me quite upset when I read them. Helped me to realize that it isn't just because of me that I overeat, the restaurants have something to do with it as well. It just makes me sick! It's almost like they are mercinaries or something. It's biological warfare I tell ya. All of it revolves around money. They should be ashamed of themselves. Making money off killing people and promoting addiction in our society!
Okay, Okay, I agree with Neecee, the last thing we need is more laws, but in my defense I am just saying that eating establishments should TAKE ON the responsibility of reporting their nutritional values of their products. There are a few that have built their business on healthier eating habits, such as Subway, that do this already. If we went to the store to buy a box of cereal or yogurt, anything excluding fresh products like veggies, if that product didn't have their nutritional values listed, we wouldn't buy it. (I do realize that is regulated) And I know that we are all adults and responsible for our own choices, but the constantly putting temptations in front of us w/o giving us the facts is still wrong and I have choose to vote by taking my business elsewhere.
Like Neecee, I remember having bologna sandwiches for ALL meals for a couple of days (my nephew says he eats wish sandwiches, two pieces of bread, and wishes he had something to put between them...LOL). I just think for teenagers and kids who have little money and not as much will power (God Bless EM) as we SHOULD don't have the cash to eat right, and a BIG MAC, drink, and fries for $4 seems like the right thing to do. I know I'm jumping around alot but this is something that frustrates me. Thank goodnes that the schools have started making sure that they are serving good nutritional meals to kids.
