According to the doc's scales, I have lost 6.75lbs in 30 days.  I was kinda disappointed, but she said if i am working out i'm also building muscle which will decrease scale loss?????? total 14 lbs.

I have a friend who's taking it *****ally likes it, says it curbs her appitite really well. I'm going to ask my doctor if she'd prescribe it for me on friday, but don't know if she will or not. Are you thinking of trying it? If you do, let me know what you think.

that is perfect weight loss! 1-2 lbs a week is healthy. it is scientifically impossible for the human body to lose more than 2 lbs of FAT a week, which means if you're losing more than that, you're losing muscle and water. statistics on long term weight loss generally show that slower weight loss leads to longer maintenance. when you first start working out, your weight may fluctuate a little, but contrary to rumor, it does not affect the numbers a whole lot - you cannot "convert" fat into muscle and it takes awhile to build enough muscle to make a scale difference (esp in women). you are doing great. slow and steady wins the race. keep in mind 6 lbs a month = 74 lbs in a year.

(Shoots hand in the air!) Ooooooooooooooo ME ME ME Pick ME!!!   I've taken phentermine!!!  Yep, taken it..  I started taking it when I hit about 310lbs. The doctor prescribed it to me to curb my appetite and help me start eating less.  I never had a problem admitting I gorged myself on every meal.  I was a very healthy 310lbs with great cholesterol, great BP, and only a slight thyroid issue.  I started taking the phentermine and it curbed my appetite for about a week and then my body got used to it. I'm a speed junkie.  Never the illegal stuff but if you remember anything about me I used to take ephedrine and I took lots of it. I had to keep upping my doses because I got immune to it.  Well I finished off my 30 day supply and went back to the doc for a checkup. I had gained 5lbs, my blood pressure was out the roof but my thyroid was still the same.  He nor I can say that the phentermine caused my hypertension but I have a good feeling it had something to do with it.  He pulled me off of it immediately and put me on lysinopril.  My  BP was 194/98 that day. Normally I was around 125/78  but had seen it upwards of 135/85 but normally that was after a healthy 3 plates of chinese!  Anyways, long story short the phentermine didn't work for me at all.  My hypertension is still an problem but I stopped taking my meds when I got laid off in November. After I started losing the weight my BP is around 145/88 on most days. I imagine after I get down to 275 it will no longer be a problem.  My wife also started taking phentermine when she hit 180 lbs. She took it for about a week and then took her BP and noticed it was elevated as well. She was always a 120/80 type of person. I don't remember her numbers but it concerned her so she quit taking it. She's back down to normal now and at 175lbs.

I know the feeling, but it has been said, it's a loss.  To me your approach sounds like you're not "suffering" too much,, in other words, you follow a plan you can live with.  I don't hear you whine like you're from caroline...LOL that was for you Chris. Get excited about Andrea's post - just think 74 pounds in a year! You do not want it to fall off too fast for many reasons - hanging skin issues will be minimized, sustainable habits, etc. if losing was as easy as we expect it to be, there would not be a single chub or chubbette in the nation!  You are doing great!!!!
