Time to check in!
Well Hubby had surgery last week and I got a wild hair to "help" him with his change of eating lifestyle by doing it with him. I had NOT been eating junk food since the last time i went to the RA doc and he said I should drop a few pounds. That was 3/23/07. It is now 4/27/07 and I went to him for my monthly check up and I am down 14 lbs. Wow yes but the major part of the loss came last week when the carbs were cut out almost completely. 8 lbs in a week with gall bladder surgery on 4/19/07. Do I miss the carbs, I would being lying if I said no, but it's not like I dream about them. What I have found is that fruits and veggies taste pretty good on a regular basis. I did not do the clear liquid but the protein drinks and raw celery & carrots and LOTS of water with some sugar free koolaide thrown in there every so often has kept me satisfied. Sugar free pudding mixed with calorie countdown milk stuff and 2 scoops of Gladiator protien. Yummy for my tummy and NO GUILT. 101 calories 7 g carbs >11 g protien.
Hiya Patience,
Yep, we can train our taste buds actually to crave fruits/vegetables if we eat them on a regular basis. :-)
Congrats on your progress! Keep up the hard work! Which surgery did your hubby have? RNY? You can continue to mimic his diet with a few tiny differences and make meal prep so much simpler. :-)
Hubby had VSG 4/17/07. He is on supposed to still be on mushy but he says his jaws can grind up food just a good and the majic bullet. He has been on soft food for two days now and has done excellent. He is eating out of a plate that is about 1/3 the size of a regular plate and gets full. He has had scrambled eggs and I grilled some chicken tenders (booneless & skinless). I got a 1 lbs package and we have made 3 complete meals out of it. That is both of us eating 3 times. Talk about stretching it.LOL Sauted an onion in a little (1 tsp) of olive oil. Awesome.!
