Thanks Angela, so what plan of attack are you using... I personally am a sugar hog, I guess, love sweet stuff, and I lost my weight staying away, so I will try my best not to go there, I got caught up at Christmas time making scones... and because my boys loved them, I made them more often than I should have and the scale went up 6 lbs, so I relost that... What is your best "tip" for WL?
The number 1 tip I can recommend is drink only water and eat smaller more controlled portions. Duhhh right? lol There's about 8598249248924024 other tips I can make off of just that 1 tip but I am forcing myself to make this a small post.
Water for me is easy, it's the portion control I struggle with. I'm in a rut right now and I'm out of control. Trying to stop myself from overeating at main meal times. Vacation screwed me up!
Mainly I just use the USDA pyrimiad (SP?) plan and try to eat balanced meals, cut portion sizes and move more. I try to increase my physical activity a degree every day. At first I just took baby steps and started taking the stairs instead of using the elevator, then I have gradually increased to the point I try to walk 2 miles everyday, ride my exercise bike 1.5 miles every other day (which I can do while my favorite shows are on), do some form of cardio at least three times a week. It's not alot, but at this point I have lost 17 lbs (according to my scales, but am waiting for doc's office visist for official update). Those are all changes that I can live with w/o a great deal of sacrifice. My motivation came when my mother (who is also obese) spent 8 days in the hospital in Jan., 2 in ICU, although they never really found out exactly what brought on here episode they told her if she didn't change her life style she wouldn't live to see her next birthday. I made a committment to her (and myself) if she would try to improve her exercise and eating habits, I would as well. I have kept my end of that agreement, but sadly although I have taught her the importance of eating well to control her blood sugar, which has caused her BS to decrease to the point she is now on one insulin shot a day instead of two, she hasn't done much to increase her physical activity. I tried to pull her and my sisters into going to work-out with me, but decided I would do it with or w/o them. Thankfully my DH has realized how dedicated I am to this and he goes with me on my walks and that helps to keep me motivated. Anyway, long winded post, but that's my plan.
