Ok people, I have got to drop about 80 lbs or so and keep it off. I need a diet plan that will work with both my hubby and I. High protein low carbs I can do. Give my ideas.

Did your hubby get a plan with a dietician for his vsg? I'd do that with him to the best of your ability.  Or is he allowed to eat normal foods?  I don't know much about vsg. If you are busy people as most are these dasy, i swear by the bariatric foods:  hi protein low carb low fat drinks, bars.  i keep them with me at all times and they are what I use when the schedule jumps around daily. If you are at home types, cook low fat lean protein foods and keep frozen servings around. With both of you on guard, this should be easier!  I have a skinny DH in denial (he's gaining actually), so i have to avoid what he brings home.  I'm okay with that, just have some tricks i use to stay sane. Again, with both of you on board, say no ONCE at the store, not ten times when you open the cupboard - don't bring "that kind of food" home. Sure, we can drive to the store for bingy foods but you would then, at least, be making the decision consciously to eat badly for your goal.  Good luck - stick around and help us.

Hi Neecee, I know that you have mentioned this before, but I was wondering where you got your bariatric food.  Can you just get it at a super market, or GNC, or do you order online??  Why do you like them so much?  Are they filling?  What are you favs? By the way, I'm joining WW tomorrow to help me try to finish losing my weight!!  I'm joining with my friend who is just wanting to start to lose weight.  I think the buddy system will be nice for us. Anyway, thanks in advance for the info.  I do appreciate It! Katy

I buy mine here in town, but it is avaiable online:  www.carbessentials.net Even if you read the nutritionals, there has got to be stores in your town or close by with much the same thing. I love the cappucino, hot cocoa, peach mango, grapefruit drinks best of all.  I buy the tomato, cream of chicken soup to go with soy chips for most of my lunches at work. Those soups are an acquired taste, but they fill me up. I like them because they really do help curb my hunger.  I guess because they are higher in protein. For me, those 2 point WW bars make me want about 8 more!  LOL. I need low calories, low fat, high protein.  Those things work best for me.

Yes he did and the 1st week he is to be on clear liquids. 2nd week full liquids. 3rd week soft foods. Then he can eat fish, seafood, chicken, turkey, peanut butter, tofu (yuck),  cooked beans, cheese, eggs. Well steamed or boiled veggies to be soft. No citrus fruit. No red meat ei. beef, pork, or veal. No starches  - rice, potatoes, bread, corn, crackers. I have started the full liquid diet with with celery or carrots as snacks in between. My stomach is much bigger than his so it is better to fill with good stuff than bad stuff. I have already gotten used to the taste of sugar free and NO soda. I do have the bariatric cookbook and will be going into it regularly. Sweet tooth is curbed by sugarfree popsicles, jello & pudding.  I know 80% of why we eat is emotional and 20% is real hunger. With that in mind I drink alot of water & sugarfree walmart brand drink. If I rotate the liquids I don't get bored with water and I drink about 80 - 96 oz a day. I think I should take stock in Charmin though cause I get in my 30-40 minutes of walking just by going to the bathroom. I know this is a lifestyle change for both of us, I might as well climb on board. I will be whining again so thanks for listening.

You may think I am crazy.....but I could be your doppleganger (I am the evil twin)!  When I saw the picture I coulda swore it was me!   Couldn't really tell on your profile you had your eyes closed!   Will have to post one here in a bit.....WOW Some differences......but  Try a modified version of South Beach or Atkins......both are similar but if you are like me there is no way for totally strict adherence to any plan.....might want to look towards them for inspiration....I'm currently on liquid right now and will be switching over in two weeks to a modified South Beach (high protein, low carb, low fat)
