I took the stairs!

Today I met with the doctor that I am seeing for my weight loss management. He went over my new diet (that will start tomorrow because I have to go to the store tonight to buy all of this food that is defiantly not already in my home). He has cut me down to 1500 cal/day or up to 1800 with significant exercise. Anyhow, I did not bring my lunch today so I did not have a real healthy lunch (Arby's) BUT I did walk to Arby's and when I got back to the office and pushed the button to the elevator I changed my mind and took the stairs. I work on the 3rd floor and they are tall floors so it took a lot of stairs to get to the 3rd level. I was out of breath but I made it. After I was done I thought who can I tell that will not laugh at me for being so proud to climb 2 flights of stairs. Well, hopefully someone else has felt like this before too! It has been about 5 minutes and I am still living and no longer breathing hard so I think that I can at least try those stairs again! Let it begin!

Hey congratulations!!!!  I know exactly what you are talking about.  I work on the second floor but I have vowed to take the stairs EVERYTIME!!!!!  That's generally 5 times a day up and down.  This not only helps with the weight it helps keep those knees working as well......DAMN elevators are evil, they make us lazy.  LOL.  Never trivalize your small steps because we all must start somewhere. Also, my daughter works at Arby's and so since she moved out if I want to see her during the week that's where I eat.  Their salads and wraps are both pretty good choices. Keep up the good work, one stair at a time.

You made it to the top of the mountain!  Stairs are definitely a feat to be proud of!  There are days when they kick my arse!!!!!  Before long you will be running up them!

It is beautiful here today so I went with a couple of girls from work and we walked for 15 minutes and then I took the stairs AGAIN (up and down). Now my knees feel like somone stompted on them. I am frustrated trying to plan my food for next week... I am suppose to get 12 meats in a day.. that is a ton and hard. We are going on a picnic tomorrow and I have 2 small kids, any ideas on what to take?

You gotta get some good protein powder - read labels, make sure they are low fat and low suagr too.  This is great to supplement and really will help control your hunger. To the picnic:   hard boiled eggs (you eat yours no yolks) tuna salad made with low fat mayo bake some chicken breasts tonight and bring those cold.  Drums for the kids boil some asparagus (leave very il dente) then wrap a piece of lean ham around each piece.  tofu salad:  mash some firm tofu, add in stuff like for regular egg sald:  mustard, mayo, relish, paprika - it is good!  lowfat cheese put into wheat pitas - wrap in plastic wrap and leave in the sun til warm.

Awesome every little bit helps!  The first time that I did the eliptical I could only stand about a minute so when I got up to five I was so proud.  Now I usually do from 15-30 minutes each workout depending on what else I have already done. Great Job!
