New Here - So Glad to See How Busy This Board Is

Hi all, I have never been to this board before but I'm SO happy to see how many people are here and that post often.  I  have been attempting to get RNY for eight months now and I'm going crazy waiting.  I just feel like a lump.  But the weather's better (or will be when the two feet of snow we got this week melts) and I'm not waiting in limbo anymore!  If the surgery happens (if I still want it then), well, good.  But in the meantime, I'm jumping (or rather gently easing) into the boat with you!   Like someone else had on their signature... "It's never too late to be who you might have been."  So true! Looking forward to shared encouragement!

Hiya Alison,      Welcome, welcome!      We're always glad to have a new soul aboard.  Surgery or not in your future, all your hard work will pay off down the road either way.  (I always feel so bad for those pre-op's who go ballistic with their bad behavior prior to surgery and put on an additional 20/30/40# that they then have to take off in addition to what they started with.)       So are you starting to practice some RNY habits?  High protein/complex carbs?  Lots of water?  Finding supplements you like?  Eating many mini meals rather than large ones?  Exercise?  Let us know where you're at and what you're doing.  We're a nosy bunch! LOL  Whatever habits you're working on changing, we're here to cheer you on.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome!  I am still following along the journey to surgery but would love more of these light-bulb moments I have been having along the way to make that not neccessary.  Fingers crossed and butt-in-motion! I haven't gained any weight since my consult in January (except for four pounds on vacation, but three of those are gone again now).  But, this week I'm going to try a liquid diet for awhile similar to the pre-RNY one except with a little less protein.  Too much (I hear) is bad for the kidneys etc.  I'd like to stay on that for as long as possible and then go to pureed etc.  Taking some supplements along the way, increased water, not eating with meals, listening to my still intact stomach and working my way back up on the exercise thing (starting with a pedometer and stop watch and just walking and then progressing up to joining a gym when the weather gets worse again in the fall).   This is my plan and I know starting "next week" or "Monday" never really works but I just thought I'll start after Easter and after my "happy" time of the month to give me the best possible mood and start to the process! I just have to keep thinking that if I'm not happy with myself, I have to start with myself! Thanks for the pre-encouragment! Alison

Hey there,

I just joined this board a few days ago. I felt at first that I didn't really belong because I have had surgery, but eveyone welcomed me with open arms. I am here to do that for you. I welcome you and feel free to post anytime about anything, these folks are great!
