Guys, I'm angry!
As you all know, I'm having lap band surgery in a few weeks. I didn't tell anyone at my job except my one close friend and my boss. It's just not something I want everyone to know; not that I'm embarassed, but it's personal. Anyway, this one brown-noser that I hate found out I was having the surgery. I think my boss told her and I'm sooooo mad! Should I say something to my boss or just let it go? Grrr!!
Sorry girlie. Some people have no clue. Don't let these people ruin your excitement. If I were you I would sit down with your boss and say something like this is a very personal decision that I have made and I have confided in you as a friend and confidant. I am asking that this stay a private issue and I hope you can understand why I would l like my personal life and matters concerning my weight to remain private. Something like that might work. I am so sorry this happened. Or you could just let it go. You are doing this for yourself and don't let anyone or anything bring you down. If this brown-noser already knows about your surgery how many other people already know. It will get around. If it will make thing tense between you and your boss then just let it slide right off the pretty shoulder of yours. People love to have other people to talk about. Keep your chin up and focus on all your pre-op stuff and dream of the near future. If you don't want to talk about it with your co-workers then just say this is a personal decision and I am not comfortable discussing it here at work. Have a great weekend and try not to let this crap get you down. You are a strong beautiful woman. I swear I heard your roar!
This depends on so much, mainly the personalities of everyone involved. Me, I would HAVE to say something. Your boss may have broken an employee labor law by breaching your confidentiality.
How bad do you need this job? - Weigh that first before going off about it. For sure, let your boss know how upset you are and have the boss inform Miss Brownnose to keep a lid on it. Just take it easy, don't blow too hard. Get your point across firmly and factually.
Fachissakes. I can't beleive the boss woudl do that!
See that's the bad part - I love my job. So I don't want to have any bad wind between me and my boss. But I'm so ticked off! I feel like I lose either way - by shutting my mouth, I feel like I'm getting walked on and by opening my mouth, I feel like I'll be making matters worse. I mean, what's done is done, so what is me saying anything going to do? But I'm so mad that I WANT to say something!. This is so frustrating!
Yeah I would have a talk with him. He probably didn't realize how personal it is. He may have told this person because he was excited for you. But definitely let him know how you feel so that next time he is a little more cautious. He did break a labor law though. Medical conditions are supposed to be confidential. I'd talk to him and just let him know. I"m sure he'll be considerate and apologize. If not, you wanna borrow my paintball gun? If you need something a little more powerful I might be able to accomodate that.. Oh nothing to kill him.. WOuldn't do that, but you know.. scare the hell outta him maybe! :)

HI,
I had a boss that did the same thing and boy was I pissed, I called her boss and then I quit, That is a personal matter and she should have kept her mouth shut...... I would call her on it, or she will just continue to do this to other people.
Tell her you are calling the labor law and telling them what she did , and she can't do anything to you about it or make your job uneasy.
Can you tell I am mad about what my boss did, I got unemployment for it and I quit. I was a nervous
wreak. sorry hun I can't even spell I am sooooo mad...
Good Luck and do what is in your heart don''t let them run over you. your a good person.
Virgie.bye for now
Just a thought I had. Are you sure it was the boss that told the brown-noser and not your friend? I hope it wasn't your friend but before you go after the boss in the parking lot after work do a little investigating. Maybe talk to brown-noser and casually ask how they found out about your surgery. It was most likely the boss but you never know. Just don't want you to put your foot in your mouth. Hope things work out and remember you are in our thoughts.

I would let it go because then the boss would have to have a conversation with the person and it'll get bigger and bigger. The brown noser may tell more people in retaliation. Good luck on your surgery. I was banded July 2006. Remember- small bites and chew! LJ
