Hi everyone. Im new here and I would like to know what kinds of weight loss programs are you on and how has it been for you. I am thinking about Medifast but I am not sure.  Do you know of any weight loss programs that Medicaid pays for?

I'm on Atkins and I'm doing okay so far.  I have no idea about medicaid, though.  Sorry

I'm on a new program called my own and so far this is what is working for me.  I am not following any "diet" that is on the market.  I am familiar with several of them including Atkins, The Zone, Weigh****chers etc.  I have taken my knowledge of all these programs and used them to make my own plan.  I have lost 98 pounds so far.  I exercise daily.  1/2 hour bike ride 5x per week.  35 minute walk daily.  I try to do some weight training but I need to work on that.  I eat whole grains, fiber, fruits, veggies, chicken, fish, non-fat milk yogurt and cottage cheese, salads salads and more salads.  I do not limit myself when it comes to fresh fruit and veggies.  Lots of water, sugar free jello, sugar free fudgesicle for a treat, pretzels for those salty crunchy cravings.  I eat at lest 4 x per day.  Always breakfast.  Usually weight control oatmeal or Kashi Go Lean cereal.  These help keep me full.  I also do a lot of organic beans.  Black, kidney and garbanzo.  They are high in fiber and protein and make you feel full longer.  I avoid sugar, salt, fried food, fast food, soda and white bread pasta and rice.  I use Weigh****chers bread for a sandwich.  No mayo only Grey Poupon.  This is a strict diet but that is what I need.  I am one of those people that has to do all or nothing.  I do best if I am really strict.  If not I will stray and feel guilty and then sabotage then self destruct.  I know its sick.  I need to work on those issues while I lose weight.  Hope this help you with some food ideas.

a bariatric doctor program from 8/1-2/1 - 6 months.  Lost 21# or so.  he prescribed phendimetrazine, appetite suppressant.  It worked, no side effects for me. i did go get a ekg and made sure my heart was okay first. Main idea:  eating bariatric foods (80-150 calories, ~15 g protein, very litle carb/no sugar/no fat foods every two hours all day long.  To keep metabolism working. Supper was supposed to be about 400 calories, suggested to be lean protein, veggies mainly. But as long as you were under 400, didn't matter. As of 2/13, Weigh****chers.  I still use the bariatric foods all day long, and have a bit larger supper. I also blow 35 WW points, for me, consumed usually weekends having a bit more food - more real food at lunch or snacks.  Plus, i'm an alkie - love my beer on weekends. Still losing.  Between both programs, roughly 1.5# a week lost. since August 1, 2006.   i am an avid exerciser, have been for 21 years.  Still would gain/lose, even doing that most days of the week. Mainly, the idea of eating every couple hours has really worked for me, it does keep my appetite down overall. Plus, having the bariatric foods on me at all times has saved me from the dreaded cinnamon rolls/donut/birthday cake thing at the office. Or has saved me from fast paced work schedules - hungry and no decent choices - well i look in my briefcase and voila. One down side:  expense of the bariatric food. However, one could easily argue that junky food costs some dough too.

I'm probably the most rebellious person here when it comes to a diet. I hate dieting, I love food, and I don't feel I should deprive myself from what I love.  So I eat whatever I want to an extent. I obviously don't eat fried chicken for breakfast lunch and dinner but that's not to say I don't occasionally have a juicy leg or some chicken wings.   I've been doing this almost a month now and I'm down 25lbs. I do not exercise on a regular basis but I do plan to soon. Here's an example day for me:  Main ingredien****er Breakfast - Lo-carb breakfast bowl from hardee's (I eat about 1/2-3/4s of it) or two taquitos from the local gas station. :)  Consume about 20oz of water during this meal. Snack - trail mix, beef jerky, or something without too much sugar. Lunch - Spicey or grill chicken sandwich from Wendy's, 6" Club Sub, or perhaps a meal-sized salad. By this time I've drank another 40oz of water or so. Snack - trail mix, beef jerky, or something without too much sugar. Dinner - Baked fish (as much as I want), pork chop or maybe even baked chicken breast or leg. For sides it's usally green beans, broccoli, corn, squash or peas for the 1st side. For the second side it's garbanzos (chickpeas), lima beans, baked beans or whatever fits.   By the end of dinner I've got in another 30-40oz of water. Water - 20oz - 40oz before bed depending on how hungry or hyrdated I feel. If I'm still hungry I'll eat a snack consiting of a can of tuna seasoned with italian style herbs and extra virgin olive oil, never any mayo. I never eat later than 8:30pm. I go to bed around 10pm or so.
