Abstinence - Day 1
Yesterday I broke my abstinence at lunch time. I had a sandwich and some prunes. Somehow, without the yogurt, I felt my lunch didn't last long enough, and feeling deprived, I binged on lunch meat and pita pockets. Oh well! I guess I'll just have to forgive myself and start over today. The problem was we didn't have the money to shop this weekend, so I ran out of a few things, including yogurt. Today will be an ad-lib abstinence, since I can't make sandwiches today (ran out of lunch meat from the bingeing).
Breakfast
3/4 cup grape juice (ran out of fresh fruit)
1 mug coffee
1 cup 1% milk
2 cups water
1 cup Rolling Oats cereal
1/4 cup scrambled egg substitute
Lunch
Frozen meal from freezer (includes meatballs, pasta, fruit, and vegetable)
2 whole wheat pita pockets
2 cups water
Dinner
Leftovers
1 can vegetable soup
17 grapes
Crystal Light peach ice tea
Since I go to Overeaters Anonymous, and I am a compulsive overeater, I won't always be perfect on my food plan. It's really hard to beat an addiction. Some people manage years of abstinence, but I haven't reached that point yet.
Denise Phares
Hi Denise,
Grats on stopping after one short binge and not letting it snowball into something longer. Letting go of the guilt really does seem to help for me. I like that saying, "You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there."
Here's my plan for the day:
6:00 am - South Beach protein bar
8:30 am - Zone Perfect protein bar
11:00 am - South Beach wrap
1:30 pm - Lean Cuisine Swedish meatballs
4:00 pm - Caesar salad
6:30 pm - Caesar salad
I've already treadmilled 55 minutes this morning and don't think I'll do any more today cause I have a toe that's a hair bit tender. Have downed 60 oz of water so far, so it shouldn't be any problem to hit 100-120 by tonight.
My big scary day on the horizon for bingeing is Easter. We have 2 big long family dinners to go to that day (Mark's side of the family is big on the high sugar/high fat comfort foods). I'll do my best to stuff myself with meats and veggies on Easter to crowd out the desserts that are usually my undoing.
Anyway, you're doing great! Keep up the good work!
