One of my supervisors just started on Termene and Phenzene under a doctor's care.  He is melting, like 15 pounds in two weeks.  Has anyone every used these?  Any opinions?  He says he has energy like crazy, and that he is never hungry.  Sounds too good to be true!

Well, the old saying still holds true.  If it sounds too good to be true, it is. I'm not familiar with those drugs but my guess would be that they are some type of amphetamine which would explain the energy your friend has.  I took diet pills about 15 years ago & they nearly killed me. Ok, so he loses weight on these pills.  What next?  Again, my guess is after he stops he'll regain the weight plus some more. Healthy eating & exercise, like it or not, are the only long term effective solutions to lose weight & keep it off.  Even if you have WLS you have to make those changes for it to be a life long success. I know I didn't answer your first question but you did ask for opinions, so I'm giving mine honestly.  I'm not flaming, either.

I've taken Phentermine in the past and I'm currently using it.  I'm more then 100lbs over weight and I was turned down for WLS by my insurance company - they even had the nerve to tell me to try the pill with anti depressants (really made me mad). I didn't like them making this suggestion, I was told to go to a doctor / Clinic to have them document my weight loss and diet for the next 6months - then they would cover the WLS.  So, I decide to go to the Bariactric Clinic and they prescribed Phentermine.  I have been doing really well so far.  I do agree that you have to learn how to eat to keep the weight off, but some of us just need to jump start it.  I think the pills are okay to try to aid in weight loss but the weight will come back with a vengeance if you don't exercise and learn how to eat the right foods.  I'm hopeful that with the pills, change in diet, and exercise I will not have to revisit the WLS option.  I know some people don't have much luck with the pills, they aren't by any means a cure all, but I think they can be a big help in helping you eat less which will cause your stomach to shrink to its normal size. (Then it’s up to you to keep it that size by not over eating again.)  Current Weight - 280 - I desire to be 165 I hope this helps

Thanks guys.  I kind of worry about him.  He is young (30ish) and I would hate for him to harm himself in some way.  I know I can't take them, cause of my heart, but I want to know what to look for in his quest for weight loss.  He has started working out more, and has changed his eating habits (at least here in the office).  I will keep an eye out for  any problems.  Thanks!
