Starting over again - Abstinence Day 1

Yesterday I broke my abstinence at lunch time by bingeing on lunch meat and flat bread. Breakfast 1 banana 1 cup shredded wheat 1/4 cup scrambled egg substitute 1+ cups 1% milk 1 mug coffee 2 cups water Lunch 2 slices flat bread with spinach, 3-4 slices tomato, 6 slices turkey lunch meat, 1 slice American cheese, 1 tsp. salad dressing 9 small prunes (1/4 cup) 6 oz. low sugar, nonfat yogurt with fruit 2 cups water Dinner 1 cup Dijon-Pepper Steak 17 grapes 1 cup whole wheat pasta Crystal Light peach ice tea If I feel like bingeing today, I'll have to cut out the flat bread and the lunch meat. I'll find other alternatives. Denise Phares

Hi Denise, What exactly are you trying to abstain from? Your lunch and the whole days worth of food sounded fine to me. Maybe you should have only had one slice of bread, but having another won't sabatoge your day. And the turkey is good for you. I think you're being too hard on yourself, especially if you're throwing in exercise with this. Get out from under that chair!!! You're doing a great job, Katy

I am with Katy on this one!  You are doing great!!  This abstinence thing seems to be causing feelings of guilt, disappointment, and failure.  That is not good for you.  I am NOT knocking the program that you are following, I am just concerned about the way it is making you feel!  Yeah....Come out from under that chair please! OOOXXXXOOOO

have you talked with your sponsor about this? Perhaps you need to plan more food like say, two days a week? As a contingency. I cannot predict when i will feel more hungry.   I would also comment that you could try to add in more greens - dark greens like spinach, kale.  I note that you (as I do) could use more veggies in your diet. This is something I work at as well. Further, in reading I have done about bingiers - one of the treatments is to make sure to eat dark leafy greens daily.  There is a theory that your body craves something you are not giving it - and for most people, guess what that means? GREENS!  Do you take a multivitamin? I feel you are being too rigid as well. Come out hun, you can sit up here with the rest of us! ((((Denise)))))
