Gastric Balloon - lost 24 pounds in 3 weeks

I had a balloon fitted on 25 December 2006 in Marrakech Morocco - I am doing really well - I had a quick recovery and have lost 24 pounds in less than 3 weeks. Balloons are great! Very Easy - with no special diet the weight is falling off!!!! It only cost £1000 in total. Go for it - It's much cheaper and less dangerous than other european obesity surgery. Good Luck Angela

Hi, I've just started to hear about this. Sounds like you have done super! Can you tell me, I know you FEEL FULL, but how does the cravings/hunger feel? Angela, I am so glad to read your post. I am curious like Gael....here in America, I can't get much information...I dont think the balloon is approved yet. For such an industrialized nation, we seem backwards medically sometimes. Did the balloon hurt at first? I want to keep an eye on your progress. Hope the best for you... Best regards, Vicki

The balloon has been around in the united states for over 15 years. It was introduced, became slightly popular, and then most surgeons backed off of it. The reason is that the ballon has it's own issues, it can wear away the stomach, causing ulcers, it can cause huge issues with GERD, and it can deflate and cause an obstruction. Most of all, surgeons stopped using the balloon because the weight loss was in general insufficent, and when the balloon was removed the weight came back. (i researched the balloon before I had WLS)... But hey congrats on your weight loss. Scott
