Hey guys! I was just reading about this in my people mag and DiscoveryHealth.com. I was considering doing it bc its 8wks, free Balley's membership and then some. Anyone have any suggestions or comments on this?

sure why not do it? the free membership alone would be worth it. i have seen them follow individual people on discovery health channel (which i'm obsessed with). it seems pretty reasonable. do they give you a nutrition plan?

Hi Andrea, The funny part is, they give you almost EVERYTHING. There is a few gym membership, a weigh in and measuring at certaing locations, docs and other nutrition experts to give you a personalized plan, and a support chat much like this one. I was truly surprised. My husband and I discussed it and decided we r gonna do it together. However, my mom is a bit more discouraging. She finds that I will not go thru with it and will not go tothe gym. She isn't trying to be hurtful, but she has seen my patterns and many failures. I almost agree with her bc I have been home and too lazy to exercise. The best thing I did for myself was walk there and back (mom lives 2 blocks away). I dunno, trying to keep the negativity out and the positive in. They also say we can do a group thing online...which I think would be awesome. I think my husband and I will be a group, with my best friend joining in. Let me know if you will do it, we can sign up on the same group. More moral support! BTW My 2 FAVORITE channels are national geographic and discovery health. They are awesome to watch! xoxo Rach

You can do the challenge without having a Balleys! All you have to do is weigh in every week and exercise and eat right for 8 wks to see how much you can lose in that time with everyone else. It sounds fun and encouraging. Its like one big group deciding to change. You should think about! You still get the free tips and recipes and the such.

so i signed up for the challenge. but i don't really get how it works. its not the easiest site to navigate. have you figured it out? its also telling me i can eat 2000-2200 cals a day which seems like a lot...

Hi Andrea, I know! That does seem like much! It told me to eat about 2400-2600 calories. Meanwhile, on every supervised diet I have been on, it told me for me it would be 1200 to lose weight, so what the hell? I would DEFINATELY question it. Wonder if I can email someone about that? I was watching Super Obese on Discovery Health and they made a scary point. To maintain 200lbs, u eat 2000 cals per day. To maintain 400lbs, u eat 4000 cals per day. So for our own sake, I am sticking to 1400-1200 cals per day lol. BTW I Lost It! on Discovery Health is amazing! I forgot to write it in another comment I wrote to someone lol. But the Obesity shows are touching. Have you seen we lost 800lbs together? Its truly amazing what these 2 women have gone thru. I have been following their progress from previous shows. Hope all is well

Hi. I've also heard about this Challenge. But everytime I go online to join, it seems that I cannot access that link. Am I doing something wrong??? I also love Discovery Health (do you guys watch I LOST IT??? Its on at 6:30am in NYC) I'm going to look into the website again to join. A free gym membership? Thats pretty good. But I pay for a YMCA already (I just have to GET there!!!!!!!!!) Good luck, and keep us posted. Ciao Felicia

My husband and I are officially signed up! I'm sooo excited. I can even start going to the gym now if I wanted to. I'm in the pass book. Had my tour of the gym and what they do is cool. I am going to the weigh in on 1/13 in Houston. When I get to Bally's on the 13th, they do a fitness assessment on you and give you a plan, which I think is AWESOME. They even give massive discounts and waive the registration fee, which is over $150, if you decide to stay for less than $30. Ironically, I too, have a gym membership and stopped using. My contract is up in March, which is perfect, bc my free trial is up March 10th. Navigating is kinda tricky. Go to Discovery.com, then click on the Discovery Health icon on the left. Then you will see this box with the challenge and towards the top there is a read more/registration icon. Then you put in your info, and get ur free pass and set up a weigh in appt if you chose. Let me know if you have any more trouble! Good luck! I'm so excited u decided to do it to!

My husband and 4 of my kids are signed up for this too. We started Tuesday even though it doesn't officially start til 1/13. So far we're down a total of 10 lbs (the boys are trying to gain weight and build muscle) No Bally's by us either, but we just got a Bowflex last week and we're walking. Good luck to everyone!
