inspiration
Thank you so much Katy. I will definately keep in mind the chewing gum. I remember doing the herbalife diet (awful for me). I drank these shakes and lots of water with the crystal lite stuff...I was always in the bathroom lol. Which is dangerous working as the lone person for 911 EMS dispatch in a city lol. I have to fight for potty breaks lol.
I will definately try to set a schedule. I actually have a stepcounter, just need to download the program and activate it.
What actually helped with cravings was Meridia! However, insurance companies won't usually pay for it and its $100 out of pocket every month which is murder and hence I stopped using it. But will definately want to get back on it. Maybe I'll just have to work an exta shift here and there.

Hi Katy,
Thank you so much for your inspiration. You're my hero! It's so reassuring to hear your story and all that you lost (and gained in happiness.) I aspire to be like you.
I went for a lap band consultation, and after that experience I decided I am going to lose MY weight on MY own. I don't want my fate to be in someone else's hands. Moreover, the surgeon (very ethical I might add) told me that even with surgery you have to be disciplined and work some sort of healthy structure or routine into your life and keep it there for good. So, there's no reason to have surgery in my opinion.
I weigh 300 lbs. today and I plan on losing 52-104 lbs. this year. I'd love to lose 1-2 lbs a week, and after reading your inspirational post I knnow I can do it too!
Tomorrow I meet with an internist/bariatric doctor (not surgeon) and his staff. He has a holistic weight loss program: nutritionist, physical therapist, a trainer, an acupuncturist all there on the premises. I am anxious, a bit nervous, and excited to start tomorrow. : )
God bless and let's remember 'good luck is the result of preparation and hard work'!
Sabrina
Hi Sabrina,
Thank you so much for your response. It really made my day. I've had a really tough week and a half. Just not quite myself and therefore, making some unhealthy choices. But, I need to pick myselves up, right, because if I don't do it, who will? So, today, I got back on track and ate much better, as well as went to go work out. It really did feel great! So, when I read your message this evening, it was very inspiring to me. Thank You.
I know you will do this. I can feel the determination in your words. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.

Hi Katy,
I'm sorry about your tough week and a half. Forgive yourself and move on, like you seem to be doing. I know that I need others to remind me that bumps in the road are completely normal, and moreover are even expected.
Just as the doctor I met with yesterday said, obesity is a disease, so we must treat our disease for our whole lives because there is no cure. So, even when we lose our weight, we have to remember that this is an ongoing struggle, so bad days/weeks will happen and are expected. This new idea to me helps me to forgive myself easier for slip-ups that will come my way, so that I don't start a spiral downward (on the scale upward) just out of sheer guilt.
I guess it's sort of like having like diabetes. We can treat diabetes, but treatment must be for life. When we lose weight we can be just because a diabetic who may no longer need insulin shots, but it doesn't mean that we are cured of the disease if we decide to eat poorly again on a consistent basis.
Anyway, I'm proud of how you picked yourself up and ate better and worked out. That's sooooo hard to do, and you did it!! Hooray!!
