Puzzlement

I weighed myself for my monthly weigh-in on Saturday, December 2. I had stayed the same, neither losing nor gaining weight. I found this disappointing and puzzling since I had started a new food plan in October, and had originally lost 2-1/2 pounds on it. I guess I'll just have to try hard this month. And it won't be easy, with the junk food (cookies for Christmas, etc.) readily available at different places. I'll just have to turn it down. Denise Phares I'm glad at least I didn't gain weight! DDP

hi denise - maintaining your weight is an accomplishment! especially if you are used to being on the gaining side! my question for you: i know you do all the OA stuff and follow their program but have you ever thought about visiting a nutritionist? a private therapist? or does that conflict with the OA philosophy? i guesss i'm just thinking that maybe it would be helpful to get some new opinions/perspectives/choices/ideas. you can manage the holidays - its important not to look at them as a reason to get way off program. there are lots of tips for holiday eating out there that will keep you on track without feeling deprived. i think i'll put up a post about that and see what all the brilliant people on this forum have to say about that.

Hi Denise! Sorry to read about your disappointment. DH and I are on a healthy eating plan and right now I'm losing, however, I've already made the decision that when I hit a long plateau I will go see a nutritionist to review my diet. At that time I will also keep a careful food diary and will weigh and measure my food so I'll have good records to document what I've been doing. I expect that I will have to make adjustments to my calorie intact and balance of foods as I drop the weight. As for motivation through the junk food - I come here and read this forum. I also remind myself that I don't want WLS and if this healthy eating program doesn't work, then I have to go back to the WLS plan. Try to keep your goals close to your heart and mind. Are you sensitive to salt? I am and if I eat a salty meal, I can retain a couple of pounds of water. I would hate to do that just before my weigh-in! And keep going, as you point out you didn't gain weight and that is an accomplishment as well to enjoy and celebrate (not with food LOL).
