High blood sugar reading

As usual, I had my physical, and this time, instead of my fasting blood sugar reading being in the mid-80s, it was 112. I was shocked and scared, even though my doctor told me not to worry, that it was just a "high normal" reading. Well, the "high" part scared me, and warned me that if I didn't change something soon, I'd be developing diabetes! So I changed food plans this past week. I have been on OA's basic food plan #1, so I switched to #2, which has half the carbs, less protein, less fat, less fruit, and more vegetables. I tried to do this once before, but I wasn't ready, and I binged over the change. This time, I was ready, and didn't feel deprived. Wish me luck! Denise Phares

Hi Denise! Good job on changing your diet. What is OA? I'm sort of new here, have noticed there are a lot of abbreviations for stuff I don't always get!

OA stands for Overeaters Anonymous, which is a Twelve Step group, a spiritual group based on the same twelve steps which have worked for Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. It does work, I can tell you that. Denise Phares

I'm concerned your Doctor stated not to worry about your fasting. 110 is considered pre-diabetes. 126 is the cut off to full blown diabetes. Glad to hear you are taking it seriously. Ann
