My parents
I haven't posted in a while, and I want to update everyone on what's happening with my elderly parents. My Dad is in the same nursing home as my Mom is, in fact they're in the same room. Unfortunately, my Dad's had so many health problems lately (his prostate closing off his urine is the latest, so now he wears a catheter all the time), that he feels he just wants to die. He has been eating and drinking very little, so the nursing home staff has put him on IVs. He was offered a stomach tube so they could supplement his diet, but he refused. He wants to eat whatever he wants instead of following the renal diet restrictions, and wants to go to a hospice. I'm sure my Mom will follow suit, since she feels lost without him.
I am still abstinent (refraining from compulsive overeating and not eating in between meals). I'll be weighing myself on Saturday, October 7. If I don't lose weight, I'll start making small changes to my food plan. Small changes work better than large changes for me. Probably the first thing I would do is to give up pizza. I always overeat on it, so that would go, at least for now. I'm not ready to reduce my portion sizes, but I have given up making crockpot meals that don't satisfy me with a normal portion size, like spanish rice. It just slides down my throat, and I really need to stick to meals where I do alot of chewing.

Hugs to you -- you're obviously under a lot of stress. I think most of us have realized that we can't eat our stress away. Kudos to you for not giving in!
I wish you and your parents the best.
