new great food find
i just found this and really liked it so i thought i would share. they are called shirataki noodles and are made of tofu but can be used with spaghetti, stir-fry, in chicken soup, whatever! i was very surprised that they were so good! there are a ton of different recipes on the internet on how to use them.
they are 40 calories for an entire bag - which is significantly more than a cup (compare with cup of spaghetti is about 200 cals). i'm a big volume eater so this was great for me. they look and sort of taste like ramen noodles. they also have a fetticine shape.
you can buy them at whole foods in the refrigerated section with other tofu products. you can also buy them on the internet but they're more expensive since they have to be kept refrigerated. they smell gross when you open them but you just rinse and parboil for 3 minutes and they're fine.
can you tell i'm excited? here is a link to what they look like

Hi Andrea,
I've heard about these from the main board a few times. 40 calories for a whole bag is amazing. It's like 210 for 2 ounces of even the whole wheat pasta. A huge difference. I used to like "bulking" my protein and vegetables up with a small amount of pasta, but after I went completely off white and processed carbs it wasn't as satisfying using the wheat pasta. I'm definitely going to have to try these. I don't think the gross smell will bother me because the wheat pasta definitely isn't the nicest smelling thing around either!!
Thanks again, and yes I can tell you are excited!
