Hello All, I found OH two years ago after finding out that, at 31 years of age, I weighed 320 lbs. and had a BMI of over 53. One of my close relatives had recently had RNY and I strongly considered it. However, since I had no diet history (I mean, ever! I had spent most of my life gaining and gaining) I knew it would not be a matter of just hopping on the table. A few weeks after this weigh-in, my place of employment had a statewide affair. I worked like a dog to help prepare, only to be told at the last minute that I would need to stay behind and answer the phones. Yeah, right! That cemented my decision to get some of the weight off. So I gave myself one year to seriously try to lose some weight before pursuing the surgery. I only lost 12 pounds in the first nine months. I joined Weigh****chers in April of 2005 and have lost 67 additional pounds since. So here I am, two years later, almost 80 pounds down and with my BMI dangling right at or just below the magic 40. Thanks for stopping by my post. I am so relieved that this board exists! Much success to everyone out there!

Hi Dee, Great job! I'm dying to know....any changes in the attitude towards you in regards to your work environment? Ann

I don't really know. The WW program started here last April and disbanded in October. After that most people quit, but I immediately found a local meeting. I used to eat a lot of microwave popcorn here, until I came in one morning in March and found an anonymous letter in my box DEMANDING that I stop it. Personally, I think the weight loss was a bigger problem for the author than the actual popcorn. Sadly, no one from my floor has resigned since I got it, so they're probably still here. To keep the peace I did and now only eat it from an air popper at home, and I rarely come out of my office. People who know me well have come up and said "good job," etc, but this whole note thing has poisoned me and I have considered moving on.

Hi Dee, I'm sorry to hear about the attitude at your job. Too bad, it is their lost. I think you are right, it probably is more that you are losing and looking good, than eating popcorn. You are kind, if I got a note like that, I would have double the amount of time I ate popcorn That is pretty weak that they couldn't tell you to your face. Ann

You're right ... if someone had approached me and said they had a problem with it, I would have willingly stopped and probably would not harbor any resentment now. Eventually, my weight loss will be outstanding that I will have to create a web site about it. I do still have the memo.
