missing exercise
hi guys -
well i'm about 8 days out from my latest plastic surgery procedures and wow, looks like i'll be sidelined from exercise for quite a few weeks. its times like this when i realize how important exercise has become to my life and way of living. i definitely work out a lot to allow myself to eat a bit more - so i'm trying very hard to watch what i'm eating since i can barely make it from the bed to the couch. it also helps me deal with anxiety and get those great happy endorphins...
i think i have always gone back to exercise too early after my procedures causing an extended healing time and possibly not as good results. but i can't really push this one though since its thighs and that kind of makes it difficult to do anything, even slow treadmill. sooooooo....my weight is finally back to down to where it was when i went into surgery - he took out about 5 lbs though so i'm expecting it to go down more. trying hard to stay off the scale, but its so hard for me.
i am so scared of gaining weight, its bad. i just hope i can make it through this down time without gaining weight and without driving myself stir crazy from all the anxiety about gaining weight and not working out.
*sigh* i hope everyone is having a happy and healthy holiday weekend.

Andrea,
I'm so happy you posted this. I have the same concerns. I never miss my exercise or weight lifting so I'm anxious about my breast lift next month. I'll be able to walk right away but no aerobics, kickboxing, weight lifting, etc. for several weeks. It'll be my first time in 2 1/2 years. Next year it'll be worse when I have my tummy tuck & arm lift.
I keep telling myself that I made it this far & I won't go back to my old ways. This will be my first true test of how I'll cope without my exercise. I'm so regimented & set in my ways so I know it's going to be difficult for me.
Wishing you a speedy recovery,
Juli
thanks so much for your message. you are right though - i need to have faith in myself that i am capable of moderation and won't go back to old habits. my first 2 surgeries i was on the treadmil after only about a week which probably wasn't the smartest thing. i just need to be patient and let things heal.
good luck with the breast lift. that surgery was not too bad - especially if you aren't having implants put in so there isn't muscle involvement. i had am implant exchange and bra skin removal in march and was back on the treadmill (very slowly) after maybe 5 days. the biggest issue really is just being incredibly exhausted. it takes awhile for the anestesia to work its way out. i was probably back to normal cardio intensity after about a month (a little longer for strength training).

Hi Andrea,
I'd love to see your plastic surgery pics. I'm not having implants done, just the lift. I can't wait to be able to roll over without smooshing my boob, lol!

Wow, what a transformation! Thank you for sharing your pictures with me. I can't wait to get mine over & done with.
I've thought about a thigh lift, too. I have always had jiggly legs, as do all of my skinny sisters. It's definitely hereditary. I'm not sure I want to go through the pain of that, though.
