Sunday, June 18 Breakfast 4 buckwheat pancakes with 1/4 cup honey and light syrup & margarine 2 scrambled eggs 1 cup orange juice 1+ cups 1% milk Hazelnut coffee 2 cups water Broken abstinence meal* A few small cookies 1 glass of punch No lunch Dinner Rotisserie chicken leg & wing with skin 1 cup mashed potatoes with margarine 1/2 cup light fruit ****tail, drained & rinsed 1 can New England clam chowder 1+ cups 1% milk 2 cake donuts with frosting & sprinkles* *I made the decisions to deviate from the food plan for two reasons. 1. I saw my husband grabbing cookies to eat at church, and I wasn't strong enough to resist myself. 2. He didn't want me baking low calorie cookies in the kitchen while he was around because he had stored leftover Halloween candy in the oven, and would be tempted by it. Denise Phares

Hi Denise - Maybe this is dumb and everyone else knows, but can you explain this whole abstinence concept as it applies to food? I know you mention OA a lot so it appears to be related, but I don't know much about it. I mean, if you want to explain, I'd be interested but its cool if you don't want to. andrea

Andrea, I don't know and I'd be interested in knowing as well. Abstinence to me I think means abstaining from certain foods???? That's my take at least. Perhaps Denise can enlighten us a bit more. Donna

I will explain abstinence as I understand it from OA. It's refraining from compulsive eating or compulsive overeating. It's following your food plan, and not deviating from that to eat impulsively. Denise Phares
