ANY ONE EVER DONE THIS?
Pam,
When I went to my doctor in July of 2005 and asked him to approve surgery, his first response was "you are a good candidate, but I can't approve it until you give it one last shot, with everything you've got."
I hadn't been honest with myself about what had brought me to 350+ pounds. I had never truly tried to take the weight off. I decided for my health and for myself I had to give it one REAL shot. And I did.
Now 11 months later and 132 pounds less, I guess it worked. My belief is that if someone is desperate enough to look into life altering surgery, giving it one last REAL chance at doing it without surgery is definitely not asking too much.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

Absolutely...
I had so much success with my pre-op diet, I put myself on a post-op diet and said "Forget surgery, I can do it THIS way" (tricking my mind/body into beleive I had the surgery)-- and have been ever since. Sure, it may take a little bit longer than with surgery, but... in the end it evens out. Plus I didn't have to go through all the pain/suffering associated with having WLS. I reeped the benefits of the procedure, without all the negative side effects. COOL!
