I met with a trainer
Hi everyone! Well, Monday I met with a personal trainer. I think it went ok, but am not sure if my workout is enough. She has me doing cardio for 15 minutes and strength training for 15 minutes 3 times a week. And she told me not to go below 1500 calories a day to keep it between 1500 and 1800. Any thoughts about this?
Thanks,
Kim
Hi Kim,
Well I guess my first question would be, what has your level of exercise been to this point?
If it has been almost nothing, then perhaps she's being realistic about the level of exercise you can handle right now. I know that I usually only do 20-25 minutes a day of the weight circuit, 3 times a week, and I have been doing this since October. Your muscles need time to recuperate, usually 48 hours.
As far as the calories, I think that is realistic if you are exercising regularly. Your body needs fuel, and 1500 is not a whole lot for a day.
Perhaps a little background on what you've been doing, what type of program you've been following, and your level of healthy at this point, will help us answer better?
Donna
Hi Donna! I only started exercising a month ago. I went from doing nothing to walking about 3 miles a day. I was also eatin between 1200-1400 calories a day. I eat three meals and two snacks daily. I have increased my calorie intake as she suggested. And she did say not to do weight training two days in a row.I am happy with the program. I worked out yesterday and felt really good afterwards. I think I am losing weight too fast though. Not sure, I have lost 14lbs in a month. Is that too much? But I am big to begin with. I started out at 278 and am now 264. Thanks for your input.
