Topic: Home, 2nd day from VSG surg this past Tues, June 21st

Hi everyone,

Well I did it... seems like it was only yesterday where I was stressing out about approvals, clearance from docs, etc.  But obviously everything worked itself out!

The pain I've gone thru I can not describe.  It was quite miserable but each day it gets progressively better.  I'm finding it difficult to get in all the liquids/protein they've asked for, but I'm doing my best.  It was a lot easier when you were on the IV and werent fussing much about that!

So now im just trying to walk around, check off liquids off my list and rest where Im able.  I'm really hoping this gets better soon.  Ive only been given Tyl3 with Codeine - and quite frankly I dont think it does s***t.

I havent had a BM (sorry if thats TMI) so thats concerning as well.  Does anyone have anything to contribute on recovery or going to the bathroom?

Thanks!
Joyce

Topic: RE: question about Support Group Meetings
I second your comments about the NJ IGT's....  that's really my only 'live' support group.  I do use the OH board for info, updates, info sharing....  but I enjoy the IGT's the most.  It really is supportive and friendly...    Mary

Thanks, Alice for your wonderful comments...I am a support group leader, not a nutritionist, a counselor, a nurse or a doctor...just a caring person who likes to gather with peers to talk about our weight loss journeys. I started my group a little over 4 years ago and I love the friendships that I have made with the people who come on a regular basis. I love seeing the people "transform" in their bodies and in their minds! I love the thank yous I get afterwards. I hate that people are unable to come on a regular basis and that sometimes we have a poor turnout, I hate when people talk to much about themselves and their problems, taking up valuable time and don't give others a chance to talk. I really feel that our group, FIRST SATURDAY SUPPORT is a very special group. We get each other and many of us are a few years post op (I am 4 1/2). I sincerely believe that the support groups help us stay focused and give us motivation. For those who are interested in our peer to peer group, we meet again on Saturday July 9 at RWJ Fitness/Wellness Center, 2120 Lamberts Mill Rd, Scotch Plains at 10:30am. Our email is: [email protected]

I also went through this but believe me it is all worth it.  I had my surgery on a Friday and on Sunday I was crying to my husband that I had mad a mistake.  For the shoulder/neck  pain I used moist heating pad and walked around a lot to move the gas pockets, for constipation I used milk of magnesia and also still today I use Miralex in my coffee and tea everyday.  You are eating a lot less so you will not go to the bathroom everyday. I am 4 years out and down 90lbs and you would have to fight me to take my band away LOL.  Just hang in there we all have been there and are feeling your pain.  Keep us posted  when those lbs start melting off

Topic: bandster hell (cross post)???
From what I read bandster hell is in a few weeks when you are getting hungry, have no restriction but are trying to eat as if you were restricted. Well if that is bandster hell what am I going through right now? (Please no negative comments, I have enough of those thoughts running through my head). My should/neck pain has me in tears. I can't go to the the bathroom (tmi sorry). I called the nurse today she told me what to take to get things moving but so far nothing. This is worse the natural child birth, c-sections, and having my gallbladder out. I hate to complain I was trying to stay strong and positive but right about now I am wondering what on earth I have done.
