Topic: RE: Restless Legs???
I would agree that this is probably vitamin-related. Its either too little or too much of something. I know that cramping of the legs is often a sign of low potassium; I don't know if that could also produce this type of symptom.

Good luck, hon!

Topic: REMINDER: Wednesday September 21: Next Inconvenient get together dinner!!
If you already replied, no need to reply again.
REASON: A few of you have mentioned you’d like to get together for a dinner. We can sit around, meet each other, share our trials and tribulations and maybe a few laughs. While we want to help each other lose, maybe we can also help each other gain  … a new friend or two (or 5).   EVERYONE is invited to come. It doesn’t matter which operation you had, or even if you haven’t had a procedure yet, or maybe you’re just “thinking" about it !! COME and have a good time !!   If your apprehensive in attending, let me assure you – you will have a good time. There is NO JUDGING !! We are tolerant of each other’s decisions. In addition, if it means anything, the Food Police are banned from our gathering.   Each time we do this, I will try to “move" the location - since no one location will be convenient for everyone.   This time we’re in the “Central / Southern" section of the Garden State !!     Place: TOWN AND COUNTRY Diner Location: ROUTE 130 & 206, BORDENTOWN, NJ Time: 5:30 pm    it is understandable that not everyone can arrive at this time, so come WHENEVER. We probably won’t order until 6:30 p.m. Menu / Website:  http://www.townandcountrynj.com/   In the meantime, for the “meeting newbies" here are some meeting request. I hope I don't offend anyone - it's not meant to be that. Just helpful.    (1) If you want a separate check, please let the server know prior to taking the orders. It’s a hassle to ask the server to do this later on. And some places won’t do this if the crowd is too numerous.   (2) Usually when we do a group meeting, I like to divide check by the total number of folks at the table, instead of trying to figure out who had what. (If someone brings more than one person, they multiple the total owed by the number of people they have). Now I understand if you only order a coffee and someone else has a Filet Mignon with a 5 lbs Lobster – then we can address that more diplomatically.   (3) Please bring CASH (unless you want a separate check). And please make sure you have an assortment of bills. It’s really difficult to make change when everyone brings only 20’s.   (4) Bring a CAMERA!! Even if you are like me and camera shy, you’ll still want to take some photos of the folks who are there. I don’t have one or I would.   (5) Bring “proof" of your former self. Nothing says “how far you have come" like older photos. Even if you lost only 1 pound, bring your “before" pictures (and at the last meeting we all agree we hate that word only. Be proud of any amount of weight you lost).   (6) Please feel free to post and link this on any other forum you peruse (ex. Lapband,  Realize band, RNY, VBG, VSB, etc). The more the merrier !!   (7) Print your Obesity Help “Membership" card so we hand them out. If you don’t know how to do this, send me an personal message, and I will send you the instructions.   Remember this is a GROUP effort. Please feel free to add your suggestion and/or voice your opinion on any suggestion. AND NO HARD FEELING – this is meant to be a pleasant experience   For those who haven’t had the operation yet – you too are more the welcome to come. In fact, you are encouraged to come!! This would be a ‘true-life’ learning experience to see “life after the operation". You will be able to hear what our ups-and-downs are, and you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you want. Other “up-comers" have come, and found it interesting and educational.   Significant others and/or kids are also welcomed (however you may want to leave them behind so you can really enjoy yourself  – it’s up to you)   Finally, please feel free to tell ANYONE you think may be interested, and since I cannot post on every board, feel free to copy and paste this on the boards you frequent.   If you'd like to email me directly, my email address is [email protected]
Good Luck on your Journey !!

16 years ago my Mom lost her battle to cancer.

She passed away of cervical and ovarian cancer. I can remember 18 years prior to her passing, she, and her (our) Cousin Carol Ann, were talking in the dining room, and my Mom mentioning to our cousin how she “wasn’t feeling right down there". Cousin Carol Ann asked my Mom if she has gone to the Doctor to check it out, and my Mom’s reply was “Oh No!! I don’t want to hear the “C" word"!!  - for you young ones, the “C" word isn’t what you think – it’s means CANCER. Well my Mom ignored all the signs.

Fast forward about 15-16 years later, and one day I found my Mom “sleeping" in bed, very weak (not like my Mom). For some reason I pulled back the covers to her bed only to find her sleeping in a pool of blood from “the lower area". Of course she was rushed to the Hospital, tests were taken – and it was discovered she had cancer of the cervix and uterus. They operated, they said they “got it all out" and she recovered.

A year later she relapsed, and for 2 years she was on/off drugs and eventually chemo. The cancer finally took her life. She was 54. The Doctor told her (and us) that if she had come in 18 years sooner there is a very good chance she could have beaten this and lived longer.

As a result, my Mom never got to meet her only Grandchild. And the death of my Mom hit my Dad so hard it eventually killed him too. Not to mention my sister and I, who miss them both (daily).

Now why am I posting this? Not because I want you to feel sorry, or send condolences replies, but because you're special to me, and to remind you of a few things:

(01) If you don’t feel well, GO SEE A DOCTOR!! I know, we’re all scared what the Doctor may say but early diagnosis is the KEY to BEATING a disease.

(02) IGNORING IS IGNORANT. Your body is your best friend. IT won’t lie to you. It will tell you when something isn’t right. Don’t be an ostrich and stick your head in the sand. Listen to your body. Remember, everything in life can be replaced – except YOUR OWN HEALTH/LIFE!!

 (03) NO ONE HAD CONTROL OVER YOUR BODY BUT YOU!! Many state that their family member is “not on board" with their medical decision. WELL GUESS WHAT – only YOU have final say over your own health. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BEING ALIVE.

(04) DEATH IS FINAL – Yes going and having an operation may cause you to be temporarily incapacitated, and it may put a temporary strain on your family. But when you’re dead, the strain and pain on the family is much greater.

If you’d like to honor my Mom’s life, please learn from her mistake, get healthy, and pass this along to anyone you think who will benefit from it. If you do, tell them it’s a present of love and concern from you, and Margie (my Mom’s name).

Funny I just found this site today …

Topic: Online Chat to learn about surgery
My surgeon, Dr. Marc Neff, is having an online chat tonight, September 15 th at 6pm est.  This is a chance for you to learn more about bariatric surgery for both first time and revision patients in the privacy of your own computer.

I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Neff. It is not often to fine a surgeon that is not only talented, skillful and meticulous, but to have such a kind heart and great bedside manner.

Stop in and check out what he has to say....

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

While it may be too late, next time you may want to post this in the NY forum too, especially since Rockland County is just over the boarder.

Good Luck on your Journey !!
