Does anyone have any last minute advice?

I'm getting my "last meal" in close to 11PM tonight.  My wife has been supportive and very helpful so far, getting a bag together for me.

What do I need in the bag?  What should I be aware of, in terms of the hospital experience (Hackensack University Medical Center)?

Here's hoping that Dr. Trivedi has a better night of sleep than me!

Thanks for any advice and quick prayers!

Topic: Morristown Support Group Holiday meeting
Sorry for the late notice, but I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone wants to drop by.

The Metabolic Medicine and Weight Control Center is having their holiday meeting/party tomorrow (Tuesday Dec. 20)  at 95 Madison Ave, across from the hospital. It starts at 6 p.m.

There is usually a light dinner, but the office did just tell me that they are also welcoming (suggesting?) pot luck contributions of wls-friendly food dishes.

They did also tell me there is no need to rsvp.

Here is a link to their website if you need to pursue more information.

Hi Martina,
I had a DS, but in 2 steps...so, for the first year (and 100 pounds or so), I had a sleeve only.   The weight came off fast in the beginning  (my stats are on my profile, if you click on my name on the right)....  and there wasn't the malabsorption component to deal with...  this means, if you take 40 gms of protein, you get to absorb 40 grams of protein....  there's a bit of supplementation needed on the vitamins, but not tons.....    the VSG board on OH was very useful to me....  I learned a lot from the people further out than me.
I had a lot more weight than you to lose, so I needed the DS....  but the sleeve has much less potential for complications and vitamin problems, so...  Congrats on finding a surgeon you trust, and post any questions you can think of.   Mary

Hi,

My name is Tina and I am having the gastric sleeve done.  I am getting all my doc visits out of the way and hope to have it done soon.  I live in south jersey and Dr Marc Neff is my surgeon.  He is a great Doctor.  We have support groups that we attend and he even takes the time out of his busy schedule to attend them which I think is fantastic.

I am so anxious to have my surgery!!  I need to lose about 125 pounds at least.  I was wondering how others did having this procedure and that much weight to lose.  How well did you do, and did it come off fast.

Looking for some friends while going through this wonderful and exciting journey

I sent you a list of Support Groups which was last updated April 2011.

Also, my Doctors are a part of Advanced Laproscopic SURGEONS which is much different (and often confused) with A.L. Associates. You may want to give them a try.

Good luck!!

Good Luck on your Journey !!

They have a bariatric wing, now. All rooms were private. I had my revision from RNY to DS there, and was in the ICU from the 21st - 24th, and sent to the bariatric wing (private room) on the 24th. I went home on the 25th.
