Hi all.

I'm brand new to the site and hoping to have WLS. I go for my consult on the 29th. I'm going to SOC in Manahawkin, and was told that Dr Reich is the docor I will be seeing because he's the only medicare doctor they have. Anyone have experience with him?

Topic: GASTRIC BYPASS REVISION Q'S
Anyone have to have a revision of a gastric bypass by getting a lapband?  My pouch is "huge" as per the radiologist who did the G.I. series and the bariatric surgeon.  My insurance company, United Health Care/Oxord says my BMI is too low, but it's not the original surgery and the BMI shouldn't  be included - or so I thought.  Anyone have a similar situation??

Topic: RE: Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery looking for friends
Hi Everyone ;)

Just wanted to share the good news that I am finally approved and my surgery is definitely February 20th.  We fought so hard to get it to go through, I almost gave up because it was so emotional to go through.  Horizon BC/BS denied me... I have done so much crying and couldn't handle it.  As I have previously mentioned before, my husband is a NJ Carpenter and if it wasn't for them, my surgery would not be taking place right now.  Thank you all for being such great friends and being there for me, all of you ;)  So glad to have met you, you gave me the strength I much needed.  Please keep in touch ;)

Topic: OT: Halfway thru....

Hi All,
I'm halfway thru my doctorate program......  WLS seems like a lifetime ago...but I know, it's what made going back to school possible....   I would have never had the energy 250 pounds ago....
I'm juggling, school, work, a boyfriend  (the South Jersey guy from last year is still around!!), and holding an office in the nursing association.  At 430lbs, I could just make it thru a day at work, and come home and collapse....  now, I fit in a million things to do, then collapse!!!
My weight is fairly stable,  I never hit a 'normal' body weight for my height, but my losses exceeded the doc's (and mine) expectations.  I wear a size 12, can do stairs, and fit in movie and airplanes seats, and (blush) unless I'm naked, the extra skin isn't too noticeable!
My surgery was the DS, and it worked for me....but it's not for everyone...    My advice, research, research, research.....  figure out what surgery you can live with, THEN pick a doctor who's an expert in that type.  We have successes (and failures) with every surgery type here on OH, use them as resources and ask questions!
Good Luck to everyone here, and Come on out to the Inconvenient get togethers....  It's amazing to see and cheer on each other, and to out faces to the typed words!

It sounds like you are on an exciting adventure! Take it one meal at a time...don't let the inevitable minor setbacks become major. Good Luck!!
