Everything is going good for me. I'm not sure how much I lost yet because I havent had my 1 month follow up yet =-( . Some of my favorites during liquids were sugar free Icepops they saved my sanity lol. As for soft food which i am still on I have been eating Kaboucha Squash (kinda like butternut squash on steriods), talapia and greenbeans.  The healing process was a little rough but that was because I live alone and am stubborn lol.

As for the people saying what their "friends" went through I finally had it and told them to stop comparing me to others. If they didnt like it they didnt have to be around me.  They finally stopped their nonsense and have been very supportive

Hope all is well,
Eileen

I JUST went through this whole ordeal!! I was having severe reflux and couldnt eat much of anything.  Turns out my band slipped and had to be removed on Dec 6, 2010. After healing from the removal I chose to have the Rny on April 27, 2011. I am happy with this surgery but kicking myself in the rear for not doing it a long time ago.

It took awhile for me to make my decision. I had lots of people telling me what happend to a "friend" of theirs when they had their gastrics done. It took a lot of soul searching but I feel its the best decision I have made in a long time. If you need someone to chat with about this feel free to contact me.

Thank you so much for reaching out Eileen!! How is everything going for you? Did you have any "favorites" during your liquids/soft food stages? How was the healing process for you?

I, too, have alot of friends who tell me about their friends who didn't do well with the bypass. Unreal!!!

Good luck with your journey!!!

Topic: RE: Are Carbs More Addictive than Cocaine?
I read the article a few weeks ago and shared it with my support group. I believe that carbs are very dangerous to many people. What I did recently learn was that diabetics are more susceptible to weight gain from "good" carbs and must eliminate them totally. I am one of the few whose diabetes remained active after RNY in 2006. When my blood sugar levels (A1C) increased I was put on a small dose of insulin. This insulin was enough to convince my brain that my body wanted and craved carbs. So I started eating healthy carbs, oatmeal, quinoa, whole grain pasta, brown rice, kashi granola bars, sf pudding, 100 cal popcorn....etc. What I discovered was that it was too much and my A1C, despite a rigourous excercise program and active life style, was at 7.2, not a good level! Doctor halved my insulin and put me on a new med for diabetes that takes away the voice in the head begging for carbs...I'm 3 weeks out and the meds are working great, weight is coming off (just need to lose a few lbs) and my blood sugars are very very low!
If you were a diabetic or still are, be very very careful about the carbs. Most good carbs are not good for diabetics!
