My surgeon's office and nutritionist does not believe in protein shakes. Even the ones that are low calorie. I am having a hard time getting protein in my diet. The nutritionist said I don't need a lot of protein. I feel full instantly and then hungry 1/2 later. Any advice on the protein issue?

The surgeon said he wants protein from food, not from shakes. Of course, I cannot get in the protein because I get too full. The nutritionist said portein is overrated. She told me to mix 2 oz of protein with 2 oz of carbs for every meal. I know there is no way I am getting my protein in. I would say I only have about 20 grams of protein a day. I lost 23 pounds the first month. I weigh myself tomorrow. I think I only lost about 10-12 pounds this month. I am not super heavy. I am around the 200 mark. But, I was wondering if the lack of protein is causing a slow weight loss. My internist said the slower, the better. The nutritionist said the first month, an average is 20-30 pounds. Then, every month following should be an average of 1-2 pounds a week. So, I am right in range. Sandra

Hi, First off.......its head hunger, keep drinking your water. You should look into a decent protein drink. It will take you some time to start to go back to solid foods that are high in protein, you need to take something.
