Advice please.....

When selecting a surgeon, what do you look for as a priority? I have been looking and a lot of people have good things to say about the doctors in West Orange, Hackensack and Englewood. Should I place distance from my home to their office as a priority? Please advice me. Love, Isa.

I wanted someone with a lot of experience, a great bedside manner, and an excellent reputation. Dr Abkin has all of the above. I had my surgery in Morristown. It's about an hour away, but it was well worth the trip for what I gained (and lost) from the experience. Good luck on your wls journey! Carol

Hi, When I had my surgery I first wanted someone who did laproscopic. A few people had used Dr. Ibrahim from Englewood Hospital. I loved him. He now partners with Dr. Viamakis. She is good also. They have a great support group. I am only 20 minutes away which is nice for post op visits.

I used Dr Ballantyne out of Hackensack. My first priority was finding someone in network; and I preferred Hackensack Hospital, not only for their reputation, but because its close to my work which made follow-up visits easy. And I must say, I loved Dr B from our very first visit!
