Hey Donna, There is a surgeon in Montclair. I have to see if I can locate his name. I've seen postings here about him running seminars. I can't remember his name. it ends in a vowel I think. I had no idea it takes that long.. There is also a surgeon that Kamelgards patients have been talking about in Wayne. Maybe Irene can share his name. Call me... we need to catch up.. Donna

Dr Joseph Capella in Ramsey, NJ (Bergen) is awesome -- Lower body lift is only about a 3 hr surgery and addresses belly, outer thighs and butt as well as muscle tightening above and below belly button. I had mine done in January 2005 and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. His expertise in this surgery is also that he teaches other surgeons his techniques also. Good luck. Hugs, Nannette

Hi Donna, You can check out the plastic surgeon that I will be using when I have my plastics. HIs name is Dr. Martin Moskovitz. He's located in Paramus, NJ. Not essex county, but still fairly close. In fact he will be speaking at our March support group meeting if you would prefer to meet him to see if you would like consider him for your plastics before making an appointment. It sounds like the length of time for the surgery the you were quoted sounds more like the time that it would take to do what they're calling a total body lift. That's where they work on the entire body of loose skin during one giant surgery. This is a surgery that is only for the most physically fit, since it is gruellingly long and with the increased length of surgery the risks for complications go up, up, up. The plus side is that everything is done at once. I think based on what you wrote, you're seeking the lower body lift or belt lipectomy with hernia repair. The time for belt lipectomy is much lower, and OR time can be reduced further if there is an assisting surgeon. Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info. Irene

Dear Donna, I'm the Patient Care Coordinator for Dr. Sheila Bond, a Cosmetic and Reconstuctive surgeon in Montclair, NJ. (www.bondplasticsurgery.com) She often does plastic surgery at the same time as other medical procedures. We have been successful in getting several Tummy Tucks and Thigh Lifts approved for some very happy PGB patients. Getting approvals for plastic surgery after GBP surgery is unchartered territory, but we are on the forefront of a major push to get approvals from insurance companies who would rather not pay. If we can prove medical necessity, we may be able to get the Tummy Tuck covered. 13-14 hours seems way too long. A full circumferentisl body lift including tummy tuck and buttock lift takes about 7 hours. If ypu have any questions, call me at 973 509 0007 and I'll answer all your questions about procedures and prices. We love working with PGB patients. Donna, you've come so far. Call me and we'll talk about making you beautiful again. Sincerely, Judyann Affronti Patient Care Coordinator
