hi all...i have begun and i'm alot more nervous than i thought. i have had my consult with the dr...edward pucci...went for my physc evaluation, nutritionist, and my sleep study is scheduled for feb 17. I also find that I am extremely emotional during this period. i have no idea why. i think i really need to connect with people that know what i'm going through and have experienced some of the same things. my husband is so supportive...wants to be involved in every aspect of this journey. he has been at every appointment with me, has questioned the dr extensively...has just been a blessing so far...but i'm not sure he'll ever understand what's going on in my head. all these emotions...scared, excited...holy cow. I was fine until i saw the nutritionist. I think that brought it all home about how much life was going to change. i'm great with that, lord knows i need the change, but it's like saying goodbye to an old friend. i'm a chef and have been for almost 20 yrs, and i'm italian...double whammy. one of my favorite things to do is have friends over and cook huge dinners. i think about that and on one hand it's a little sad, but on the other i realize now that a whole new world is going to open up for me and i'm so excited about the change. i'm on my way suzanne

OH good luck! WLS was by far the best thing that I ever did for me. And you can still cook and have friends over, you'll just have to adjust what you're eatting. Your friends will still be able to enjoy your fabulous meals and company. You'll still be you, just thinner!

It's been just over four months since my surgery - by the way I also live in Denville! ... Everything is going very well for me.. My suggestion is to focus on the non-sad parts of what's coming from having the surgery ... that's what really counts in the long run of everything. Adjusting to new eating styles and amounts will come with time and practice and become second nature before you know it. Everything falls into place the way it is meant to be. Good luck! - Carol Fox

Suzanne, I am about 9 months out and still love to eat.. just not the way I did pre-op. So you don't eat the macaroni's you can still have the cheese and the meats and the veggies and as time passes you can eat more. You will learn to improvise, you've no doubt heard of low carbing.... Well I too am Italian not a chef but love to cook.. I am in Parsippany. If you'd like to talk email me.. I wish you luck on the journey.. Donna

thank you so much linda, carol and donna. i don't want to give the impression that i'm not excited and don't know what i'm getting into, i guess i was just rambling. i'm thrilled that a whole new world is going to open up for my husband and me. all the things we are going to do together..i can't wait. everything seemed to be starting to quickly...all my appointments were set up one right after the other. now i'm waiting for my sleep study and i've had to wait til the 17th of feb and it seems to be dragging. i've heard that patience is a virtue....uuugghh my husband and i are going on a cruise in march and all i can think about is this is the last vacation i'll be fat. the next one i will be able to jump off the side of a boat and snorkel..i'll be able to scuba dive....parasailing...a new life is going to begin for me...for us. thanks for listening
