Hi, I am just getting the ball rolling on this surgery. I have appt with a very good dr. I have done research in this type of operation for the past 2 years and am very confident I am making the right choice. But what I am confused about is that we have insurance through my husband's job here in Panama City FL. The insurance company is Bluse Cross Blue Sheild of NJ Horizon. I am looking for any info possible on their process. Any bad or good info from people who have used them. Anything at this point. I have read these post and everyone seems so friendly. Thanks Kala

Horizon when I had my surgery in 2004. Do you have a PPO, POS, or HMO plan? That would be the first thing to find out. Then call Horizon and make sure that your employer doesn't have an exclusion. For me, all I needed was for it to be medically necessary. They didn't require and additional supervised diets, etc. I documented any weight loss attempts I had made when I met with my surgeon and wrote a letter of how being obese had affected all aspects of my life. The surgeon's office submitted the paperwork on a Wednesday and I was appoved by Friday. Best of luck! Jennifier -120 pounds since surgery (-130 from highest known)

Jennifier, I think you may have given me the sliver lining I have been looking for. We do have PPO. My husband has tried getting additional info from work, but with being new within the company he hasn't got far. Luckily if nothing else I am stubborn and we will keep at it. thanks, kala
