Lost and scared
Hi, I am just getting the ball rolling on this surgery. I have appt with a very good dr. I have done research in this type of operation for the past 2 years and am very confident I am making the right choice. But what I am confused about is that we have insurance through my husband's job here in Panama City FL. The insurance company is Bluse Cross Blue Sheild of NJ Horizon. I am looking for any info possible on their process. Any bad or good info from people who have used them. Anything at this point. I have read these post and everyone seems so friendly. Thanks

Horizon when I had my surgery in 2004. Do you have a PPO, POS, or HMO plan? That would be the first thing to find out. Then call Horizon and make sure that your employer doesn't have an exclusion. For me, all I needed was for it to be medically necessary. They didn't require and additional supervised diets, etc. I documented any weight loss attempts I had made when I met with my surgeon and wrote a letter of how being obese had affected all aspects of my life. The surgeon's office submitted the paperwork on a Wednesday and I was appoved by Friday.
Best of luck!
