Jeff, It is good that you are scared. This means that you are educated and realize that this is MAJOR surgery and that there is a chance that complications can happen. I was healthy, 44, 40 BMI and very optimistic before surgery. I had to have three surgeries in 36 hours to fix internal bleeding. This was the first time my surgeon had complications like this. I am one month post op and have lost 22 pounds. My recovery has been difficult after a week in ICU. I see the surgeon for follow up today. Good luck on your journey. Jeannine

Good luck Jeff. Dr. Bertha was in the OR when Dr. Abkin did my surgery. (The nurses told me that they both take an active role in the surgeries although only one of them can officially be your surgeon.) I was living in Hackettstown when I had my surgery. Make sure you have a pillow or something in the car to hold against your belly for the ride home. It really helped. Once it warms up, try walking at Schooley's Mountain. The trails were so much easier there once I lost weight. I hope all goes well for you on the 30th.
