I was wondering if anyone used Dr. Capella in Ramsey? I am scheduled for surgery with him on 2/2 and I wanted some feed back from someone who had their surgery performed by him.

Hi Lisa, I think I am Dr. Capella's #1 fan. He is the man. I'm sure you've done your research and already know he is the most experienced Bariatric Surgeon in NJ, If not the entire U.S. He and his staff are also extremely nice and understanding. I had surgery 12/3/04 and I have had alot of interaction with them, they are all wonderful, including Dr. Joseph Capella his son, the Plastic Surgeon. I just went to see him last week. I have a very small scar and no complications what so ever. If you ask me you have made the best choice. Best of luck. One more thing, when I went to see him for the first consult I was 385 lbs. I wanted him to do the procedure laproscopically. This procedure has less scarring but takes longer than the open. This would allow the Dr. to charge more. Dr. Capella was not interested in money. He said with my weight and many other medical conditions, he wanted me on and off the table and he refused to do anything but the open. That was when I knew this guy was totally about his patients and nothing else. You are in good hands.

I had surgery with Dr. Capella 3/12/2004. I have lost about 150 lbs. My surgery could not have gone smoother. Both Dr. Capella his staff and Hackensach Hospital played a big role in the success of my surgery. This Doctor reallys knows what he is doing. The surgery went smoothly, very little pain, healing went well and the staff at the hospital could not have been better. The only piece of advice I would give you is to do exactly what your told. This man has done so many surgeries that he knows what works and what doesn't. If you want to email me for anything regarding the Doctor and the surgery please do, I had communication with one of his patients before surgery and found it very helpful when the anxiety kicks in and it will. But truly you couldn't be in better hands.
