does anyone outhere know about dr. ewing in hackensack nj i have a consult with him next week and i am so nervous i want to have this surgery and get it over with i dont want to go through some of the nightmares i hear about with insurance approvals ect ect....his coordinator sounds like she knows her stuff so i hope it goes smooth please let me know he is in practice with trivedi and scmidt

Hi, I had my bypass with Dr. Ewing on October 7th, this year. I loved him! I went to the seminar not knowing who I wanted and decided right then and there that I would choose Ewing. Something about his tone and manner "spoke" to me. He seemed very gentle and caring and he was. We had a common interest other than the surgery and he always remembered me and chatted about it. I've heard great things about all the surgeons, I suggest you go with your gut. One piece of advice for your consult, parking sucks at their office in Hackensack-the smaller the car the better- and you usually get in very late for your appointment. Post back with how it went!

Dr. Ewing is my surgeon! He did my gastric bypass on 12-17-04! My surgeon does not wait for me to call. He actually calls ME if he ever has an update for me... I call this the highest level of excellence in patient care... R B: I see that your surgeon is ALREADY Demesvar A. Jean-Baptiste. He is mine too... Although I am still pre-op, I heard so MANY great things about his specialized and "unique" qualifications in laprosocpic obesity surgery, outstanding abilities, EXTENSIVE experience (over 500 surgeries), precision, ability to minimize pain and unnecessary demands on a patient, while achieving quicker recovery time on a patient through his advanced medical expertise and approach that he introduced in the Operating Room. I also her that he is an EXPERT at getting Insurance approvals in the shortest period possible for both obesity surgery and tummy tuck 18 months later... Good Morning Neil- Yes, you are correct..I was disappointed with the response i received from the young lady who at the time answered the phone. Dr. Ewing had assured me that he had not gotten my message- & also that he had taken care of the incident at the front desk. He now has a new surgical coodinator, Dawn, who is very comptent & yes, does relay all messages to the Dr.Ewing. This occured just @a year ago...& I have not had a similar episode since. That never took away for the care & concern that Dr. Ewing shows for his patience. In the past year since my surgery, I have lost a total of 135 lbs..& I live life to its fullest & never want to take a moment for granted! I also want to say Thank-You to Dr. Ewing for being there every step of the way...for his support, care & concern! Thank you again! Patti Thompson

I had my WLS done by Dr Schmitt from that practice and IMHO it's a great practice and I would consider them the best in the business. When I had a problem one-night Dr Ewing was the Doc on duty and called me back very fast. I also believe Ewing is a Harvard Grad. The coordinator does know her stuff and Trivedi is with the practice also. They did help me with my insurance approval. But you should call your ins co and ask what do they require.
