One month Postop
Hi all. Just wanted to update you guys on my progress. My back pain has gone away after muscle relaxers, pain meds, and heating pad. I have lost 23 lbs, but I'm starting to feel funny.......not hahhaha funny, but weird...funny. I feel on the edge of depression and sadness. Even though I am losing weight. I'm tired of this full liquid regimen and I am scared to death that if I exert myself in any way, my back pain will return. I know I'm just 1 mth out, and I had a set back of 2 weeks with the back pain. It's gray, cold, and dull here in South Jersey and I'm feeling the same way. Sometimes, I have to say I have asked myself that every popular question....."Why did I do this?". No food for comfort. My kids are going through their own changes with my daughter moving to New Mexico for a job and leaving my son-in-law back in Texas at Lackland AFB because his tour is not up until Aug. 06. She took the kid and is staying with the in-laws. She is very sad, son-in-law is very sad, and granddaughter is very sad and missing her daddy. Maybe, I'm takin' on their sadness and adding to my own. I did find a support group in my area that meets this Friday. Can't find anything to be grateful for at this point in time. Oh well, that's it. Kathy
Kathy,
First, congratulations on a successful WLS, second, its normal to feel depressed, like you said, you lost one of your closest friends, food! Most of us our like recovering addicts in that respect. I wanted you to know that I don't live too far away from you and if you ever need to talk, e-mail me personally. You mentioned the Friday support group, I hope I'll see you there......Nazerene Church in Pitman.
23 lbs is awesome......keep up strong thru the holiday, drink lots of water and try and get some protein in. You'll be out of the puree diet before you know it.
I read your profile and you mentioned medical transcription, I'm really interested in learning because I'm a SAHM and would love to find a profession I can eventually do from home. You'll have to fill me in...thanks!
Good luck,
Wendy

Hi Kathy...
Congratulations on your surgery
Wendy eloquently summed up what I wanted to say and more... The great thing about this journey is that 6 months from now you'd have lost close to a 100 lbs... feeling MUCH better.. looking MUCH better...
As in everything in life, there is that balance of pleasure and pain...
You are on the right track... You are hitting a few bumps along the road... and when you do just "borrow strength from tomorrow"... There is ALWAYS sunshine after the rain...
MY best to you... E-mail if you wish to talk....
Neil
