Back pain
Hi all. I have a question? Has anyone had severe back pain after their surgery? Some details: I had a lap RNY 2 weeks ago. During surgery, a piece of the instrument broke off inside me and the surgeon had to hunt for it before he finished the surgery. I'm feeling really good from the surgery point of view and my pouch and my eating regimen.......following it to a tee. But about a week ago this back pain started. Of course, I called the surgeon and he said that it was nothing to do with the surgery because there weren't enough symptoms along with the back pain to warrant a concern. He said to just keep taking the pain meds and drink cranberry juice, just in case. I don't have any other symptoms at all, except severe back pain, which feels musculature in nature. It actually feels like a muscle strain. But it would be comforting to know if anyone else had this happen. I thought maybe if I was more mobile, it would help. NOT! It makes it worse. I know the things to try like heat and support. Just wanted to get that out there in case anyone had this happen and had it turn into something serious. thanks Kathy
Hi Kathy, Congrats on your surgery. The pain you are feeling could be leftovers from the anesthesia or also the air that they pumped your cavity full of to make room for the surgery. I've heard many people complain about shoulder and back pain after this surgery, and the reasons I gave you are what I have read over and over again. I hope this helps, but you should keep up with your surgeon if you still don't feel well. So sorry to hear that they misplaced a piece of surgical equipment inside of you. Ouch!!!!!!
Hope you feel better soon, great to have you on the losing side,
