Hi , I had my Upper GI yesterday and they found a hiatal (sp?) hernia and acid relux, plus they think my liver is enlarged and pushing on my stomach. I have a call into my dr. office and a follow up tomorrow with the Gastroenterologist, but in the meantime I can't help but worry that I won't be able to have the surgery. I was scheduled for Nov. 2, but I am sure that is off now. What a bummer. Anyone out there have similar problems? Any words of wisdom would be welcome! Jen V.

Hi Jen, I'm sorry for your troubles. I don't know if your surgery will be postponed or not. The reflux can be taken care of with medication but they might want to know the reason for the enlarged liver. The hernia is probably obesity related. Know that you are in great hands. Drs Bilof and Nusbaum are fantastic. Dr. Nusbaum did my surgery but I saw Dr. Bilof post-operatively and he was great too. They'll do whats best for your health and safety. My prayers are with you. Everything will happen in its own time. Hugs, Kathy 5'3" 285/153

Hi Jen, I don't know about the problem with the liver, but the hiatal hernia probably won't be a problem. My liver is enlarged too, but not to the point that it was pressing on my stomach. I have a hiatal hernia and it wasn't a problem at all. I think it depends on the degree. They may be able to fix it during your wls. I wouldn't worry too much just yet. Talk to the gastro and your surgeon about your options. Best of luck to you. Carol
