Hello, Hope everyone is doing okay. I have been on a roller coaster today. I received a call from the surgeon's office today asking me if I had done a 6 month supervised diet because I had Cigna and they require this. I told them that I had spoke with the insurance company and that because of the kind of Cigna I have they don't require it. So the guy that I was talking to said he would call the ins. company and call me back. Two hours later I got a phone call back and he told me that my surgery date was the 25th. And I thought the 25th of Nov. but he said the 25th of Oct.!!!! Wow I was floored when he said this. I am ready emotionally to have this done but physically I'm not. I haven't told my bosses, my family, I have to go food shopping, clean the house, find baby sitters. I don't even know where to begin. Besides work I already have so many things planned to do between now and then. How will I get it all done? If somebody could please tell me what are the most important things they needed in the hospital and at home the first week. What things you wish you did before that you didn't get done. Anything please!!! I thought I had at least another 7 weeks to prepare and now I have less than a week. Thank you very much in advance for your help. Caren

Caren, Don't worry about what to bring to the hospital except yourself. They'll have whatever you need. Maybe a hairbrush and some chapstick. and maybe slipper. I used hospital gowns. At home lay in the sugar free popsicles and some chicken broth, tea and sugar free jello for starters. Sugar free pudding, yogurt and cottage cheese. I don't recall abkins protocall for protein drinks. I used the nsa carnation instant breakfast. Maybe some canned tuna or chicken for a couple of weeks later.. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Donna

Caren, That's awesome! Did you see the nutritionist that Dr. Abkin's office uses that is down the hall from them for your eval? When I went for mine, they reviewed everything I will be able to eat after the surgery and provided a red booklet listing absolutely everything. Give Dr. Abkin's office a call and see if you can get your hands on that red booklet. Did you already go for your pre-op class? I'm sure they'll review it all then too. Good luck!

Hi Kim, I did get that little red book. I had my pre-op class today. It was soooo long but very informative. There are just so many things to do and not enough time to do them all. Thanks for you info. Karen
