so lost and hung out to dry...

after a 2 year journey my surgery was cancelled the day before via a phone call from my surgeon at 3pm, after I did the bowel prep. Can you believe it? I have since been battling the insurance company, Aetna, who will not approve a different surgeon/different surgery -- the other guy recommends lap band and would have done it two weeks ago, but Aetna will not approve. To make things worse, their insurance person has been on vacation the past two weeks and does not return until Wednesday. pray for me, I am ready to give up

You have got to be kiddin me... Why was your surgery cancelled at the 12th hour? I never ever consider that happening... I will pray that you stay encouraged. Bea.

Dear Shell, let me tell you that you're not alone. About the same thing happened to me 1 1/2 years ago while working to be approved by Aetna. I'm soooo sorry to hear that they are still creating problems for good people. The only help that I can offer is a phone number to Care Coordination at Aetna that seem to be a couple of steps up from the regular ignorant phone jockies in benefits. The number is 1-866-207-2257 which is actually United Healthcare, but I believe that they are one in the same now since the merge. Please check that though, I might be wrong. I changed to Oxford - Liberty Plan PPO since then and was approved in 1 week and had my Lap Gastric Bypass about 6 six after that. I am now 2 months out and 42 lbs. lighter. I hope that some of this info. might help you, and if not, I pray that things will get better for you. There is always a ray of hope some where, it just depends sometimes how hard you fight to look for it. All my best, Jen Davis
