Iron Infussions & muscle/joint pain??
I posted this on the main message board, and only had one response. I was wondering if any of you fellow NJer's had any comments?:
My Hubby, who is 1 yr post op is now having iron infussions, once per week, for 3 hrs, for 6 weeks. He completed his 4th treatment on Friday.
He has been experiencing pain/aches in his leg muscles and joints ( knees, elbows and shoulers). He desribes it as being sore most of the day, and it becomes worse at night when he lays down.( and tries to sleep!)
We've pretty much given up on our Nutritionist, and he has an appointment with his PCP on Thursday.
My question is = has anyone ever experienced this type of pain after/during iron infussions?
Thanks in advance for your response.
All the best,
Sherri
Hi Sherri. I, too, am getting bi-weekly iron infusions and yes, I do have some aches that I can't explain. Usually, they are at the site where the IV was and the bone around the area ache like a toothache for quite a while. I also get a pretty nasty headache right after and it lasts about 2 hours. My infusions (Venofir) take about 1 hour and its done right in my hematologists office. Very convenient. My hematologist is WLS knowledgeable and also helps me keep control of my incredibly low potassium levels. (not a result of WLS - I have always been low)
Good luck to you, Kathy
