OT: APARTMENT SEARCH IN NEW YORK
![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/mbgraphics/emoticons/wavey.gif)
Have you tried Staten Island? Its a ferry ride (or an express bus ride) to Manhattan. I lived there 30+ years before I bought a home in NJ. You can definately get a 2 bedroom for the price you want, maybe slightly more for a more desireable neighborhood. Try looking at the classifieds at www.silive.com
Good luck on your hunt-
Janine
Hello Janine : )
Hijack... I saw you live in Freehold NJ, I live not too far away in Jackson. Have you ever attended the support group in Toms River? Its a pretty fun group, it meets the first Friday of every month at Community Medical Center in Toms River , Auditorium A from 7pm -9pm
Several of the folks off this board, Jack M, Nannette, Jennifer, (myself) Diedre, Melita, (and some others who I cant remember :P) attend and its a fun group.
Anyhow.. my apologies to Gemini Gem... I saw your location and got excited, thought I would say hello, introduce myself, and put in a plug for the OCWLS Support Group meeting the first friday evening each month hehehehehe
(we now return to regularly scheduled programming).
Take care, nice to meet you :0)

Gem,
There are 2 towns in Hudson County NJ that I can reccommend. I have lived in both Bayonne and Kearny(in Kearny now). You might be able to find a 2 BR possibly in either although Bayonne rents did increase when the lightrail came in. Both have great school systems and are very decent when it comes to crime ratings. Both are very close to NYC and have public transportation systems. I have also lived in Jersey City , born and raised actually, and it still has some nice sections. But the rents are higher and the crime eh.
Good luck in your search.
Feel free to post again if you need to.
