Dear Group, I just wanted to thank the Toms River Support Group for making me feel so welcome last night. I don't think I have ever met a group of people so friendly and committed to helping others. It was exactly the kind of support group I was searching for. It was well worth the hour drive down to be there. I commend all your dedication and hope that anyone who hasn't experienced this group to come to the next meeting!!! I cannot wait for the groups' Walk Away From Obesity walk in Seaside Heights!!! All my love and thanks to everyone who attended the meeting, especially Timmy Ray, Nannette, Marge and Jack. Hope to see and hear from you soon, Jen from Piscataway

Jen, Toms River is too far for me to go for a meeting but when is the walk that sounds like fun.. and I am sure it is a daytime event that would be more commutable. Donna

Hi Elizabeth, Wow, I had to look at your picture twice before realizing who you were at the meeting. Congratulations on your accomplishment!!!! I was so sorry to hear that you are all around, not feeling well. I hope the group was able to help. It really sounds as if you need to see a physician who is knowledgeable with our surgery, and all of the levels of vitamins, etc. that goes along with it. I know I can't go back to my own surgeon for this. He is a wonderful surgeon, but when it comes to answering questions about carbs, dissolveable vitamins and the such, he has no clue. I still don't understand why. Oh well, you can get some of the best info from a pharmasist anyway. They deal with drugs all day long, and especially their effects. Hope you get it all sorted out, and if you ever need to talk, just e-mail me. All my best, Jen, from Piscataway

Thank you for the kind words. We want our group to be just what it is supposed to be, a SUPPORT group and that's what we're here for. Glad you could make the trip and that is was a wortwhile meeting for you. I thought it went well myself. Our walk will be on Sept. 24th at 10:00AM on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights. We'll meet at the South end of the amusements in front of the Sawmill tavern and we're going to wear denim and a red top. All are invited. See you then, Jack Martin, Toms River OCWLS

Jen, Hi there. I'm Melita, I was sitting next to Nannette. First, it was a pleasure to meet you. Second, Piscataway? Talk about commitment, wow. That's one long a$$ drive! Anyway, glad you took the time and the drive. The reason for my reply....the smoking thing. As I told you I found it a little easier to stop when I put off having one at a usual time. I would still have one after the task was over, just not the 3 or 4 I might have mindlessly had while doing the task. (fixing dinner, putting on make up, cleaning, etc.) One other big thing that helped me was ....I never said I was going to quit. That just sounds so permanent. I also felt that was setting me up for failure. I aproached it as .... I choose not to smoke today. If I want one tomorrow, that's up to me. Knowing that I could have one if need be made all the difference to me. And I wouldn't have felt as though I had failed if I had one, cause I never said I was going to quit! I must say that I got incouraged with every day that passed that I chose not to smoke. I really didn't want to ruin my personal record. But it was there if I had to have it. Bottom line is just do the best you can. At least you're making an effort. Best of luck to you. See ya on the 24th. Melita

Hey Jen - it was so good meeting you at the support group meeting, and thanks for joining us -- we all worked so hard to get where we are, and need all the support we can get -- from near and from far away. I'm glad you are going to join us at the walk on the 24th. I'll send out my e-mail notice to group members soon, but please feel free to "spread the word" -- the more the merrier! Hugs, Nannette
